- Brad Hatfield ist ein US-amerikanischer Jazzpianist und Komponist. Hatfield lebt in Boston, wo er nach Lehrtätigkeiten am Berklee College of Music und am Boston College Songwriting an der Northeastern University unterrichtet. Daneben ist er Gastdozent am College of the Holy Cross. Er dirigierte die Youth Pops Orchestras in Detroit, Denver und Chicago. Mit dem Boston Pops Orchestra tourte er durch die USA und Fernost, als Mitglied des George Russell Living Time Orchestra nahm er an Tourneen durch die USA, Europa und Asien teil. Außerdem trat er als Pianist mit dem unter und dem Boston Symphony Orchestra unter auf. Seit 2004 leitet er den Popsearch-Wettbewerb des Boston Pops Orchestra. Hatfield komponierte zahlreiche Musiken für Fernsehproduktionen und Filme, so für die Sitcom Style and Substance (mit Jean Smart und ), für die Fernsehserien Die Sopranos, Rescue Me, Melrose Place, Saturday Night Live, Walker: Texas Ranger, Touched by an Angel und die Filme Borat, Analyze This, The Break Up und Cop Land. In Clint Eastwoods Film Mystic River spielte er die Klaviersoli zum Beginn und Ende des Films. Als Begleiter trat Hatfild u. a. mit Aretha Franklin, Gary Burton, Carly Simon, Andrea Bocelli, Rebecca Parris, Rita Moreno, Yo-Yo Ma, Bono, James Taylor und Mark Murphy auf. Mit tourte er durch die USA und trat bei den Jazzfestivals von Montreal und Telluride auf. Mit dem Fusion-Gitarristen tourte er durch Israel. Hatfield wirkte an dem Grammy-nominierten Celtic Album und A Splash of Pops mit. Für Mordy Ferber produzierte er das Album Mr. X (mit Jack DeJohnette, Eddie Gomez und Dave Liebman). He has also performed with the Utah Symphony and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. His arrangements, orchestrations and compositions have been performed by the Boston Pops, Houston Symphony, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Hatfield's songs have appeared in the films Iron Man 2, Borat, Analyze This, The Break-Up, and Cop Land. His music has also appeared in more than two dozen television series, including The Sopranos, ER, CSI, Saturday Night Live, Glee, and Entourage. Hatfield was co-composer for the FX series Rescue Me from mid-season five through season seven. He has performed on dozens of recordings, including albums by the Boston Pops Orchestra, George Russell Living Time Orchestra, and Mike Metheny. His solo piano playing is featured in the opening scene and end credits of Clint Eastwood's Mystic River. In 2004–2005 and 2007, Hatfield was pianist/arranger and music director for POPSearch, the Boston Pops's nationwide talent competition. Hatfield studied piano performance and composition at Berklee College of Music, and management at Cambridge College. He teaches at Northeastern University and Berklee College of Music. He is also a course author and instructor for Berklee Online. In 2012, Hatfield was awarded "Best Online Course" by the University Professional & Continuing Education Association for his Berklee Online course "Music Supervision."
