- The Blaxnit Cup, is a defunct club football competition which featured teams from both football associations on the island of Ireland, in a similar format to the later Setanta Cup. It was inaugurated in 1967 as a cross-border competition between clubs from the League of Ireland from the Republic of Ireland and the Irish League from Northern Ireland and ran until 1974. The competition was sponsored by Blaxnit, a sock and hosiery manufacturer based in Newtownards. The competition featured four teams from each league. The Blaxnit Cup was the third cross-border competition. Previous competitions included the Dublin and Belfast Intercity Cup 1941/42-1948/49 and the North-South Cup 1961/62-1962/63. After the demise of the Blaxnit Cup teams from both sides of the border continued to compete in the Texaco Cup 1973/74-1974/75, the Tyler Cup 1978-1980 and after 2005 in the Setanta Sports Cup. - La Blaxnit Cup était une compétition de football disparue qui opposait des équipes de chaque fédération de l'Irlande dans un format similaire à la Setanta Cup. Elle a été inaugurée en 1967 entre clubs de la FAI League de l'Eire et de la ligue irlandaise d'Irlande du Nord et se tint jusqu'en 1974. La compétition regroupait quatre équipes de chaque league. La Blaxnit Cup fut la troisième compétition transnationale. Les précédentes compétitions étaient la Coupe Intercité Dublin-Belfast (entre 1941-1942 et 1948-1949) et la coupe Nord-Sud (en 1961-1962 et 1962-1963). Après l'arrêt de la Blaxnit Cup, les équipes de chaque côté de la frontière continuèrent à s'affronter dans la Texaco Cup (en 1973/1974 et 1974/1975), la Tyler Cup (entre 1978 et 1980) et depuis 2005 la Setanta Cup. Le tournoi, souffrant d'un manque d'intérêt et d'une sécurité remise en cause au plus fort des attentats du conflit nord-irlandais, a été arrêté en 1974. (fr)
- La Blaxnit Cup fu una competizione calcistica per club cui partecipavano sia squadre della Repubblica d'Irlanda che squadre dell'Irlanda del Nord, analogamente a quanto accade per la Setanta Sports Cup dal 2005. La competizione ebbe inizio con l'edizione del 1967 e terminò nel 1974. Alla competizione partecipavano quattro squadre provenienti dalla IFA Premiership e quattro provenienti dalla League of Ireland. In ordine cronologico è stata la terza manifestazione calcistica aperta ai club di tutta l'isola; precedentemente vi furono la Dublin and Belfast Inter-City Cup disputata dalla stagione 1941/42 alla stagione 1948/49 e la North-South Cup disputata nelle stagioni 1960/61 e 1961/62. Dopo la fine della Blaxnit Cup i club delle due federazioni isolane tornarono ad incontrarsi nella Texaco Cup (disputata nelle stagioni 1973/74 e 1974/75), nella Tyler Cup da fine anni settanta a inizio anni ottanta e, come detto sopra, dal 2005 nella Setanta Sports Cup.
