- Battenoord is a hamlet in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Goeree-Overflakkee. It lies near the village of Herkingen, and on the northside of the Grevelingenmeer. The hamlet was first mentioned between 1420 and 1421 as Battenoert, and probably means "land (near water) of Batto (person)". It was originally a name of a shoal. In 1504, the harbour of Nieuwe-Tonge was relocated to Battenoord. The hamlet was severely affected by the North Sea flood of 1953 and in and around Battenoord 55 people lost their lives. Battenoord is considered part of Nieuwe-Tonge. It has place name signs. Battenoord is the winter home of a group flamingoes between c. October until c. April. (en)

- Battenoord is een gehucht in de gemeente Goeree-Overflakkee. Het ligt centraal op het eiland Overflakkee, in de Nederlandse provincie Zuid-Holland. Het gehucht ligt ook aan de dijk met het Grevelingenmeer, een zoutwatermeer bezocht door verschillende watervogels zoals grauwe ganzen, rotganzen, scholeksters en grote zaagbekken.Vlak naast de jachthaven overwintert jaarlijks een kolonie flamingo's. Deze zijn vanaf de dijk goed te zien. Naast de vaste bewoners verblijven er vooral gedurende de zomer gasten op de diverse campings. Er is een aangelegd bos met een kreek en een kleine haven voor pleziervaartuigen. Battenoord speelt een belangrijke rol in het boek Oosterschelde; Windkracht 10 van Jan Terlouw. (nl)
