- Una apel·lació al rancor (llatí: argumentum ad odium) és una fal·làcia en què algú intenta guanyar-se el favor d'un argument mitjançant l'explotació dels sentiments existents d'amargor, o de la part contrària. És un intent d'influir en el públic emocionalment fent servir l'associació d'una figura odiada amb oposició a l'argument de l'orador. Les fal·làcies ad hominem que ataquen sostenint el punt de vista oposat sovint es confonen amb les apel·lacions al rancor. L'ad hominem pot ser una crida similar a una emoció negativa, però es diferencia d'ella perquè no critica directament a l'objectiu, és a dir que no és necessàriament una apel·lació al rancor, on se suposa que l'odi ja és existent. - يعتبر الاحتكام إلى الحقد (بالإنكليزية: appeal to spite وباللاتينية: argumentum ad odium) مغالطة يحاول فيها الشخص جرّ النقاش لصالحه عن طريق استغلال مشاعر الحقد أو الشماتة أو الوجع الموجودة بالأصل عند المُتلقّين. وهي محاولة لإثارة غضب الجمهور من خلال ربط النقاش بصورةٍ ما (أو بشخصيّة بارزة) مكروهة موجودة عند الطرف المقابل. غالبًا ما يتم الخلط بين المجادلات الموجّهة إلى إشباع النزوات الخاصّة والتي تهاجم «الأشرار» الذين يحملون وجهة نظر معارضة مع مغالطة الاحتكام إلى الحقد. يمكن أن تُعتبر الهجمات غير الموضوعيّة الناتجة عن النزوات الشخصيّة احتكاماً إلى مشاعرَ سلبيّة مُشابهة لتلك الموجودة في مغالطة الاحتكام للحقد، ولكنّها تختلف عنها في انتقاد «الشرير» مباشرةً - وهذا ليس ضروريًا في مغالطة الاحتكام إلى الحقد، حيث يتمّ افتراض كره الطرف الخصم. - An appeal to spite (Latin: argumentum ad odium) is a fallacy in which someone attempts to win favor for an argument by exploiting existing feelings of bitterness, spite, or schadenfreude in the opposing party. It is an attempt to sway the audience emotionally by associating a hate-figure with opposition to the speaker's argument. Fallacious ad hominem arguments that attack villains holding the opposing view are often confused with appeals to spite. The ad hominem can be a similar appeal to a negative emotion, but differs from it in directly criticizing the villain—that is unnecessary in an appeal to spite, where hatred for the disfavored party is assumed.
