- Andreu de Samòsata fou bisbe de la ciutat de Samòsata vers el 430. En la controvèrsia de Nestori i contra el patriarca Ciril d'Alexandria, va escriure dos llibres. Una malaltia no el va deixar assistir al concili d'Efes (431) però es va unir a Teodoret en la seva oposició a l'acord entre Ciril i Joan, i va canviar molt més endavant més per por que per convicció quan el 436 Joan li va imposar la condemna de Nestori. Se'n conserven sis cartes en llatí. (ca)

- Andreas was a bishop of Samosata about 430 CE. He took part in the Nestorian controversy against Cyril, Patriarch of Alexandria, in answer to whose anathemas he wrote two books, of the first of which a large part is quoted by Cyril, in his Apol. adv. Orientales, and of the second some fragments are contained in the Hodegus of Anastasius Sinaita. Though prevented by illness from being present at the Council of Ephesus (around 431), he joined Theodoret in his opposition to the agreement between Cyril and John of Antioch, and, like Theodoret, he changed his course, but at a much earlier period. Modern scholars credit him with the being the most active mediator between the two sides of the conflict, having an essentially centrist stance but ultimately flip-flopping in his position considerably. About 436 he yielded to the persuasions of John, and joined in the condemnation of Nestorius. Eight letters by him are extant in Latin in the Epistolae of Lupus Servatus. (en)
- André de Samosate, évêque de Samosate, est un adversaire de Cyrille d'Alexandrie durant la crise nestorienne. On ne sait pratiquement rien de lui en dehors de son rôle dans la crise nestorienne (430-434). Selon Pierre Évieux, il est probable qu'il est d'origine syrienne, qu'il connaît à la fois le grec et le syriaque, qu'il a étudié à Antioche ou à proximité et qu'il a bénéficié d'une bonne formation littéraire et rhétorique, auprès notamment de disciples de Libanios. Il paraît clair aussi qu'il est devenu évêque avant 423, et l'est en tout cas en 427. Jean d'Antioche, personnage important de la mouvance nestorienne, demande en décembre 430 à André et à son ami Théodoret de Cyr, considérés tous deux comme les meilleurs théologiens de son conseil, de réfuter les thèses de Cyrille d'Alexandrie et particulièrement ses douze anathématismes rédigés après un synode réuni en août 430 autour du pape Célestin Ier à Rome. André répond en se faisant le porte-parole des évêques d'Orient. Il meurt entre 444 et 449. (fr)
