- Amarna Tomb 3 is a rock-cut cliff tomb located in Amarna, Upper Egypt. The tomb belonged to the Ancient Egyptian noble Ahmes (Ahmose), who served during the reign of Akhenaten. The tomb is situated at the base of a steep cliff and mountain track at the north-eastern end of the Amarna plains. It is located in the northern side of the wadi that splits the cluster of graves known collectively as the Northern tombs. Amarna Tomb 3 is one of six elite tombs belonging to the officials of Akhenaten. It was one of the first Northern tombs, built in Year 9 of the reign of Akhenaten. The Northern Tombs were first mapped and examined by Egyptologist John Gardiner Wilkinson in the early 19th century. The first comprehensive survey of Amarna Tomb 3 was performed by French Egyptologist Nestor L’Hôte in 1839. L’Hôte made castings and copies of the reliefs within the tomb, contributing to contemporary analysis of the site as many of these images are no longer visible. The tomb of Ahmose provides insight into elite Egyptian burial customs and funerary architecture in the New Kingdom period. (en)

La tombe appartenait au noble égyptien antique Ahmès (Ahmôsé), qui a servi pendant le règne d'Akhenaton. La tombe est située au pied d'une falaise abrupte et d'un sentier de montagne à l'extrémité nord-est des plaines d'Amarna. Elle est située du côté nord de l'oued qui divise le groupe de tombes connues collectivement sous le nom de tombes du Nord. La tombe 3 est l'une des six tombes de dignitaires appartenant aux fonctionnaires d'Akhenaton. C'est l'une des premières tombes du Nord, construite en l'an 9 du règne d'Akhenaton. Les tombes du nord ont été cartographiées et examinées pour la première fois par l'égyptologue John Gardner Wilkinson au début du XIXe siècle. La première étude complète de la tombe a été réalisée par l'égyptologue français Nestor L'Hôte en 1839. L'Hôte a réalisé des moulages et des copies des reliefs de la tombe, contribuant à l'analyse contemporaine du site car nombre de ces images ne sont plus visibles.
