- The Alfredo Guati Rojo National Watercolor Museum (Museo Nacional de Acuarela Alfredo Guati Rojo) was the first museum in the world dedicated specifically to watercolor painting. It is located in the Coyoacán borough of Mexico City, in a former private house which was donated to the museum by the city government. Due to the public health emergency, as of March 2022 the museum was still closed to casual public visits. The museum was founded and run by artist Alfredo Guati Rojo from its beginnings in 1964 until his death in 2003. It is dedicated to the preservation and continuance of watercolor painting both in Mexico and abroad, with its permanent collection of 300 works donated by Guati Rojo and his wife, classes in watercolor and drawing, its annual Premio Nacional de Acuarela (National Watercolor Prize) and various temporary exhibits both at the museum and abroad. - El Museo Nacional de la Acuarela Alfredo Guati Rojo fue fundado en 1967 por el maestro Alfredo Guati Rojo, quien también se encargó de la dirección del mismo hasta el año de su muerte en 2003. Actualmente el museo se encuentra en una casa privada en el barrio de Santa Catarina, Coyoacán en la Ciudad de México, donde radica desde el año 1987. Fue el primer museo en el mundo que se especializó únicamente en pintura en acuarela, por ello su dedicación gira en torno a dicha técnica. La institución busca la preservación, continuidad y difusión de la acuarela, no sólo en México, sino también en el resto del mundo. Cuenta con una importante colección permanente que fue donada por Guati Rojo y su esposa, de la que se exhiben más de doscientas obras dentro de las salas del museo. En ella destacan obras nacionales e internacionales de distintas corrientes y estilos. De igual manera, en la Galería de exposiciones temporales "Berta Pietrasanta", se presentan diversas muestras de artistas contemporáneos de todo el mundo. (es)
