- Der Verkehr in der Antarktis hat sich dank der modernen Technologien von einzelnen Entdeckern, die zu Fuß die isolierten und abgelegenen Gebiete der Antarktis durchquerten, zu einer schnelleren Art des Reisens an Land und vor allem in der Luft und auf Wasser gewandelt. Die Nachfrage nach Transport in der Antarktis wird vor allem durch die Forschung (im Sommer 2017 knapp 5,000 Forscher ) und den Tourismus (über 50.000 Besucher pro Jahr) getrieben. Verkehrssysteme in einem abgelegenen Gebiet wie der Antarktis müssen extrem niedrige Temperaturen und anhaltende Winde aushalten, um die Sicherheit der Reisenden zu gewährleisten. Durch die Fragilität der Umwelt kann nur eine begrenzte Menge an Verkehrsbewegungen stattfinden; außerdem müssen ökologisch verträgliche Mittel genutzt werden, um den ökologischen Fußabdruck zu reduzieren. - El transporte en la Antártida ha pasado de los exploradores que cruzaban a pie la remota y aislada zona de la Antártida a una era más abierta gracias a las tecnologías humanas que permiten un transporte más cómodo y rápido, principalmente por aire y agua, pero también por tierra. Las tecnologías de transporte en una zona remota como la Antártida deben ser capaces de soportar temperaturas extremadamente bajas y vientos continuos para garantizar la seguridad de los viajeros. Debido a la fragilidad del medio ambiente antártico, sólo puede haber una cantidad limitada de movimientos de transporte y hay que utilizar tecnologías de transporte sostenibles para reducir la huella ecológica. - Transport in Antarctica has transformed from explorers crossing the isolated remote area of Antarctica by foot to a more open era due to human technologies enabling more convenient and faster transport, predominantly by air and water, but also by land as well. Transportation technologies on a remote area like Antarctica need to be able to deal with extremely low temperatures and continuous winds to ensure the travelers' safety. Due to the fragility of the Antarctic environment, only a limited amount of transport movements can take place and sustainable transportation technologies have to be used to reduce the ecological footprint.The infrastructure of land, water and air transport needs to be safe and sustainable. Currently thousands of tourists and hundreds of scientists a year depend on the Antarctic transportation system. (en)
- L'Antartide è una meta raggiunta da poche persone ogni anno, principalmente ricercatori scientifici, giornalisti e documentaristi ma anche da un crescente numero di turisti. I collegamenti con il resto del mondo sono effettuati via nave e via aereo. La maggior parte delle basi scientifiche in Antartide sono localizzate lungo le coste e possono quindi essere riforniti di materiale e viveri via nave. All'interno del continente antartico i trasporti e gli spostamenti si effettuato via elicottero oppure con motoslitte o veicoli cingolati. Negli anni e con alterne fortune sono stati sviluppati anche veicoli specifici per il movimento in Antartide, quali ad esempio lo Snow Cruiser americano degli anni trenta. I trasporti sono resi difficili dalle condizioni ambientali e climatiche estreme, soprattutto durante l'estate (anche per via della notte polare). (it)
