- The 2012 NHL Winter Classic (known via corporate sponsorship as the Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic) was an outdoor regular season National Hockey League (NHL) game, part of the Winter Classic series, played on January 2, 2012, at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The game, the League's fifth Winter Classic, matched the New York Rangers against the Philadelphia Flyers, two Atlantic Division rivals; the Rangers won by a score of 3–2. The original plan was to have the contest at the Philadelphia Eagles' home, Lincoln Financial Field; however, the Eagles played there the day before, and the NHL needed at least a week of preparation time to build the ice rink onto the field. The game was broadcast by NBC in the United States and by CBC and RDS in Canada. NBC's announcers were Mike Emrick and Eddie Olczyk, with Pierre McGuire handling sideline duties and Bob Costas as the studio host. The game returned to its original daytime time slot, with the Rangers-Flyers game beginning at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (two hours behind its originally scheduled start time of 1:00 p.m.). This marked the first time the Winter Classic was not played on New Year's Day; to follow the precedent of bowl games—which do not play on January 1 if it falls on a Sunday out of respect for the National Football League, and the observed New Year's Day holiday being legally floated to Monday in these scenarios, the game was instead played on January 2. Svoltasi il 2 gennaio 2012, al Citizens Bank Park di Filadelfia, in Pennsylvania, la partita valevole per la regular season vide affrontarsi i Philadelphia Flyers, padroni di casa, ed i New York Rangers, questi ultimi alla loro prima partecipazione all'evento; i Flyers infatti persero l'edizione del 2010 contro i Boston Bruins. I New York Rangers superarono i Philadelphia Flyers con il punteggio di 3-2. Originariamente la partita doveva svolgersi presso lo stadio dei Philadelphia Eagles, il Lincoln Financial Field; tuttavia gli Eagles disputarono una partita il giorno prima, rendendo impossibile i preparativi per allestire la pista, lunghi circa una settimana. La partita in questa edizione ritornò alla tipica collocazione televisiva, con l'inizio della partita Rangers-Flyers previsto alle ore 15 dell'Eastern Standard Time (due ore dopo l'inizio previsto alle ore 13). - Пятый матч «Зимней классики», в рамках регулярного чемпионата НХЛ 2011/2012, состоялся 2 января 2012 года в Филадельфии на открытой площадке «Ситизенс-бэнк-парк» между командами Филадельфия Флайерз и Нью-Йорк Рейнджерс. Для «Филадельфии» это был второй матч «Зимней классики» после встречи в Бостоне с местными «Брюинз» в 2010 году. Первоначально планировалось проведение матча 1 января на футбольном стадионе Lincoln Financial Field, однако местная команда Филадельфия Иглз в этот день принимала Вашингтон Редскинз в заключительном туре регулярного чемпионата НФЛ. Матч был перенесён на бейсбольный стадион «Ситизенс Банк Парк», являющийся домашним для команды МЛБ — Филадельфия Филлис и состоялся 2 января 2012 года.
