- The 2011 GP2 Series season was the forty-fifth season of the second-tier of Formula One feeder championship and also seventh season under the GP2 Series moniker, the pan-European motor racing series for single specification open wheel GP2 cars. Thirteen teams competed over a nine event series that run from 7 May at Istanbul Park in Turkey to September 11 at Monza in Italy. The series again performed the role of a series for developing emerging young drivers, acting as the principal supporting motor racing series that fills in time between sessions of the nine World Championship Formula One Grands Prix that are held in Europe. The championship was won by reigning GP2 Asia champion Romain Grosjean at the penultimate round of the series. Luca Filippi, Jules Bianchi and Charles Pic were all divided just by two points in their battle for the second, third and fourth places respectively. Christian Vietoris, Davide Valsecchi, Stefano Coletti, Esteban Gutiérrez and Fabio Leimer was the other race winners. Following a three-year cycle, the previous GP2 chassis was replaced by a brand new car, the GP2/11, built by Italian racing car manufacturer Dallara. The engine configuration remained the same until the end of the 2017 season, with the only modifications being to the exhaust systems. The series changed tyre supplier from Bridgestone to Pirelli for 2011–13. The 2011 season saw the addition of two new teams to the grid, Carlin and Team AirAsia. Meanwhile, DPR was not selected to continue in the series. On 22 November 2010 it was announced that Renault would no longer badge their Mecachrome GP2 Series engines, instead Mecachrome would run its own engine program from 2011 onwards.All GP2 Series cars had a reverse gear for the first time in the series. El subministrador del campeonato pasa de Bridgestone a Pirelli para 2011–13, usando los mismos neumáticos que la Fórmula 1. - Het GP2-seizoen 2011 is het zevende GP2 seizoen. Het seizoen bestaat uit 18 races, verdeeld over 9 circuits. Regerend kampioen Pastor Maldonado maakte de overstap naar het Formule 1 team van Williams, en verdedigt derhalve zijn titel niet. Na een driejaarse cyclus, wordt het huidige GP2-chassis vervangen door een nieuwe Dallara GP2/11, gebouwd door de Italiaanse constructeur Dallara. Ook is er een andere bandenleverancier: Bridgestone wordt in ieder geval tot 2013 vervangen door Pirelli. In 2011 komen ook twee nieuwe teams aan de start, Carlin en Team Air Asia. Ondertussen was DPR niet geselecteerd om door te gaan in de GP2. Depois de um ciclo de três anos, o anterior chassis da GP2 foi substituído pelo novo Dallara GP2/11, construído pelo fabricante italiano Dallara. O campeonato mudou de fornecedor de pneus da Bridgestone para Pirelli para os anos 2011 a 2013, à semelhança do que sucedeu na Fórmula 1. A temporada de 2011 marcou também a estreia de duas equipas, a Carlin e a Team AirAsia. Ainda de referir que a ART Grand Prix foi renomeada de Lotus-ART Grand Prix, devido ao patrocínio da construtora britânica Lotus Cars. Por sua vez, a DPR não foi continuou no grid. (pt)

Den första tävlingen kördes i samband med Turkiets Grand Prix på Istanbul Park den 7 maj, och den sista i samband med Italiens Grand Prix på Autodromo Nazionale Monza den 11 september. Romain Grosjean blev överlägsen mästare för DAMS, följd av Luca Filippi och Charles Pic. Teammästerskapet vanns dock av , eftersom Pål Varhaugs placeringar var för dåliga för att ge DAMS titeln.
