- Die Tour der südafrikanischen Rugby-Union-Nationalmannschaft nach Europa 1960/61 umfasste eine Reihe von Freundschaftsspielen der Springboks, der Nationalmannschaft Südafrikas in der Sportart Rugby Union. Das Team reiste von Oktober 1960 bis Februar 1961 durch das Vereinigte Königreich, Irland und Frankreich, wobei es 34 Spiele bestritt. Dazu gehörten fünf Test Matches gegen die Nationalmannschaften der vier britischen Home Nations und Frankreichs sowie 29 weitere Begegnungen mit Vereinen und Auswahlteams. Die Südafrikaner setzten sich gegen alle britischen Nationalteams durch und schafften damit zum vierten Mal einen Grand Slam, während gegen Frankreich ein punkteloses Unentschieden resultierte. South Africa won a Grand Slam by winning their test matches against all four Home Nations sides, as well as the test against France. This was the fifth Springboks tour of the Northern Hemisphere. Cette équipe compte alors des joueurs de talent comme Johan Claassen, Jannie Engelbrecht, John Gainsford, Ian Kirkpatrick, Avril Malan, Hugo van Zyl, Lionel Wilson. - La nazionale di rugby XV del Sudafrica si presenta in Europa per un lungo tour, come tradizione voleva all'epoca, nell'ottobre del 1960. trentaquattro partite in programma in tre mesi e mezzo con 5 test-match ufficiali e la sfida con i Barbarians. È la quinta tournée ufficiale in Europa per i Boks Capitano designato è Avril Malan, che per molti anni sarà deterrà il record di più giovane leader della nazionale sudafricana. Ma la stella della squadra era seconda-terza linea, abilissimo però anche nel gioco al piede e nei calci piazzati. (14 trasformazioni e 7 punizioni nel tour) Alla fine saranno 31 le vittorie con una sola sconfitta e due pareggi. Sconfitta maturata a Cardiff contro i Barbarians in una partita in cui i Sudafricani, ormai a fine tournée si presentarono con molti infortunati dopo mesi di battaglie e 4 vittorie contro le sfide contro gli Inglesi.
