Including the previous incarnations as the Five Nations, and prior to that, the Home Nations, this was the forty-ninth series of the northern hemisphere rugby union championship. Six matches were played between 18 January and 21 March. It was contested by England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. (en)

Con una gara d'anticipo sulla fine del torneo, fu il Galles ad aggiudicarsi in solitaria il titolo, battendo alla penultima giornata l'Irlanda e scavalcandola in classifica, rendendo quindi vana all'Inghilterra la vittoria nella Calcutta Cup nel turno successivo che condannò la Scozia al whitewash. Il valore delle marcature, come stabilito dall’IRFB nel 1905, era: 3 punti per ciascuna meta (5 se trasformata), 3 punti per la realizzazione di ciascun calcio piazzato o mark, 4 punti per la realizzazione di ciascun drop. Wliczając turnieje w poprzedniej formie, wraz z Pucharem Pięciu Narodów, była to czterdziesta dziewiąta edycja tych zawodów. W turnieju zwyciężyła Walia. Zgodnie z ówczesnymi zasadami punktowania dropgol był warty cztery punkty, podwyższenie dwa, natomiast przyłożenie i pozostałe kopy trzy punkty. (pl)
