- Sir Edward Woodville KG KB (died 1488) was a member of the Woodville family during the Wars of the Roses. He survived the reign of Richard III in which several of his relatives were executed in a power struggle after the death of his brother-in-law Edward IV. Exiled with Henry Tudor, he participated in Henry's capture of the throne. He was then appointed Lord of the Isle of Wight, the last person to be given that title. An enthusiastic soldier, he has been called "the last knight errant" because of his devotion to the chivalrous ideal. Involved in many military adventures, he was finally killed in an ill-fated personal expedition to Brittany in support of Francis II, Duke of Brittany. Woodville was referred to as Lord Scales after the death of his brother Anthony Woodville, 2nd Earl Rivers, who bequeathed the Scales lands to him. He is consistently referred to as Lord Scales in Spanish and Breton records, but he never officially held the baronial title. (en)

Proche du roi Édouard IV dont il est le beau-frère, il survit au règne de son successeur Richard III, contrairement à plusieurs membres de sa famille qui sont exécutés pendant son ascension vers le trône. En exil auprès d'Henri Tudor, Édouard Woodville participe à sa conquête du trône en 1485. Par la suite, il est nommé gouverneur de l'île de Wight, titre dont il est le dernier récipiendaire. Il joue en outre un rôle crucial lors de la bataille de Stoke en 1487. Soldat enthousiaste, Édouard Woodville a été décrit comme « le dernier chevalier errant » à cause de sa dévotion à l'idéal chevaleresque. Impliqué dans plusieurs aventures militaires, il est finalement tué en 1488 au cours d'une expédition personnelle en soutien au duc François II de Bretagne. Édouard Woodville est appelé baron Scales après la mort en 1483 de son frère aîné Anthony, qui lui avait légué les terres attachées à ce titre.
