- Die Tagbanuwa (oder Tagbanwa) leben in der philippinischen Provinz Palawan. Sie gehören zu den ältesten Stämmen auf den Philippinen. Es werden zwei Gruppen unterschieden:
* Zentral-Tagbanuwa leben in den Küstengebieten Zentral-Palawans in den Gemeinden Aborlan, Quezon und Puerto Princesa
* Calamian-Tagbanuwa leben auf Baras, Busuanga, Coron und einigen Teilen von El Nido Beide Gruppen sprechen unterschiedliche Sprachen und zeigen auch Unterschiede im Brauchtum. Laut Zensus 2000 zählt der Stamm ungefähr 10.000 Angehörige. Die Tagbanuwa leben in beständigen Dorfgemeinschaften und leiten ihren Namen ab von taga = von und banuwa = Dorf ab. Zum Schutz ihrer Lebensweise wurde 1998 das Coron Island Protected Area eingerichtet. Sie gehören zum südostasiatischen Ethnotyp, sind mit der austronesischen Sprachgemeinschaft assoziiert und verfügen über eine einzigartige Silbenschrift, die 1999 von der UNESCO zu den „Erinnerungen der Menschheit“ deklariert wurde (siehe Tagbanuwa-Schrift). Diese Schriftart steht im Zusammenhang mit einem poetischen Stil, der auf die Anzahl von Silben in einer Zeile basiert. (de)

Penelitian telah menunjukkan bahwa suku Tagbanwa mungkin keturunan . Sehingga, mereka merupakan salah satu penduduk asli Filipina. Secara fisik, mereka berkulit coklat, ramping, berdiri tegak, dan berambut lurus. Ada dua klasifikasi besar berdasarkan lokasi geografis tempat mereka berada. Tagbanwa Tengah adalah suku Tagbanwa di bagian barat dan pesisir timur dari pusat kota Palawan. Mereka terkonsentrasi di munisipalitas Aborlan, Quezon, dan Puerto Princesa. Tagbanwa Calamian berada di sisi lain, yaitu di Pantai Baras, Pulau Busuanga, Pulau Coron, dan beberapa bagian El Nido. Research has shown that the Tagbanwa are possible descendants of the Tabon Man, thus making them one of the original inhabitants of the Philippines. They are a brown-skinned, slim, and straight-haired ethnic group. There are two major classifications based on the geographical location where they can be found. Central Tagbanwas are found in the western and eastern coastal areas of central Palawan. They are concentrated in the municipalities of Aborlan, Quezon, and Puerto Princesa. Calamian Tagbanwa, on the other hand, are found in Baras coast, Busuanga Island, Coron Island and in some parts of El Nido. These two Tagbanwa sub-groups speak the same languages but different tone and pronunciation and do not exactly have the same customs. (en)
