- Die Schweizer Fussballmeisterschaft der Männer ist die nationale Fussball-Meisterschaft des Schweizerischen Fussballverband (SFV). Sie wird seit 1897/98 ausgetragen. Schweizer Meister ist seit 1933/34 diejenige Mannschaft, die nach Schluss einer im Ligabetrieb geführten Saison den ersten Tabellenplatz belegt. Davor gab es eine Vorrunde, aufgeteilt in Gruppen nach Regionen und eine Finalrunde, in der die Besten jeder Gruppe gegeneinander spielten. Im Laufe der über 100-jährigen Geschichte der obersten Schweizer Fussball-Liga hat diese ihren Namen oft gewechselt. Übersicht der verschiedenen Namen seit der Gründung der Liga:
* 1897–1930: Serie A / Série A / Serie A
* 1930–1931: 1. Liga / 1re Ligue / Prima Lega
* 1931–1944: Nationalliga / Ligue Nationale / Lega Nazionale
* 1944–2003: Nationalliga A / Ligue Nationale A / Lega Nazionale A

- The Swiss football league system, is a series of interconnected leagues for association football clubs in Switzerland, with seven teams from Liechtenstein, and one each from exclaves of Germany and Italy, also competing. The system has a hierarchical format with promotion and relegation between leagues at different levels, allowing even the smallest club the possibility of ultimately rising to the very top of the system. The first two levels of the system are collectively called Swiss Football League. Because Liechtenstein does not have its own national league, its teams play in the Swiss leagues; see List of association football clubs playing in the league of another country. (en)
- Il campionato svizzero di calcio è un insieme di tornei nazionali istituiti dall'Associazione Svizzera di Football. I campionati sono suddivisi e organizzati in nove categorie, le prime due sono inquadrate nell'area del professionismo, altre due formano il cuscinetto intermedio, mentre le restanti cinque sono a carattere dilettantistico. La Swiss Football League (SFL) organizza e dirige i tornei professionistici della Super League, il massimo torneo calcistico della Svizzera, e della Challenge League, il secondo livello del calcio elvetico. La Prima Lega (Erste Liga) costituisce un'organizzazione intermedia a carattere semiprofessionistico ed organizza il terzo campionato nazionale chiamato Promotion League, e il campionato interregionale che ha lo stesso nome della lega. La Lega Amatori (Amateur Liga o Ligue Amateur) è imperniata sul puro dilettantismo, ed organizza la Seconda Lega interregionale. Le 13 Associazioni Regionali (Regionalverbände o Associations Régionales) organizzano i campionati di Seconda Lega, Terza Lega, Quarta Lega e Quinta Lega. Ogni squadra affronta tutte le altre compagini del raggruppamento di appartenenza per una o due volte, sia presso il proprio campo (partita in casa) che presso il campo avverso (partita in trasferta). Si assegnano tre punti alla squadra che vince una partita, un punto a ciascuna squadra in caso di pareggio e zero alla squadra sconfitta. (it)
