- El ruund és una llengua bantu del grup L que parlen els (lundes kamboves) de la República Democràtica del Congo i els runds (lundes septentrionals) d'Angola. Segons l'ethnologue, a la RDC el 2000 hi havia 153.000 parlants de ruund i 98.500 a Angola. Segons el joshuaproject en el primer estat n'hi ha 209.000 i en el segon 160.000. El seu codi ISO 639-3 és rnd, el seu codi al glottolog és ruun1238 i el seu codi Guthrie és L.53. És una llengua bantu altament inusual a causa de les consonants codes (K) i al seus sistema vocàlic reduït en el que només hi ha tres vocals, ja que la /e/ ha esdevingut /i/ i la /o/ s'ha convertit en /a/. - Ruund (Ruwund), also known as Northern Lunda or Uruund, is a Bantu language of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Angola. It is highly unusual among Bantu languages for allowing consonantal codas and for its reduced vowel system, in which short /e/ and /o/ have become [i] and [a] respectively, leaving only 3 short vowels. Another interesting feature of Ruund is that, as with the related Ciluba language, the tones of Proto-Bantu have reversed, so that High has become Low and vice versa. In this language therefore the accented syllables are Low and the default tone is High. (en)
