- La coalition rouge romaine est un type de coalition politique en Belgique rassemblant des socialistes et des démocrates chrétiens. Bien que le surnom donné à la coalition soit récent, cette alliance, apparue pour la première fois dans l'entre-deux-guerres, est historiquement très fréquente en Belgique depuis les années 1960. Elle est l'équivalent belge de la Grande coalition en Allemagne. La coalition rouge romaine a été la coalition privilégiée des années 1960 jusqu'au milieu des années 1970 avant de redevenir dominante durant les années 1990. Elle disparaît partout à partir des années 2000, sauf en Région wallonne et en Communauté française où elle reste la coalition privilégiée. (fr)

Roma merujuk kepada Katolik Roma dan Merah merujuk kepada warna sosial demokrat. Antara 1946 dan 1958, Partai Rakyat Katolik (KVP) dan sosial-demokrat Partai Buruh (PvdA) membentuk inti dari beberapa kabinet 'Romawi-Merah', yang dipimpin oleh Willem Drees. - Roman/Red (Dutch: Rooms/rood) is the nickname for a period in Dutch politics between approximately 1945 and 1958. This period was characterized by coalitions between the Catholic and social-democratic parties in the Netherlands and Belgium. "Roman" refers to the parties with Roman Catholic affiliation, and "red" refers to the colour associated with social democrats. During the Roman/Red period, the Catholic People's Party (KVP) and the social-democratic Labour Party (PvdA) formed the core of several 'Roman/Red' cabinets, led primarily by Willem Drees. After the Catholic KVP merged with two Protestant parties to form the non-denominational Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) in 1980, the term has been used less frequently in Dutch politics. In Belgian politics, the term is still used to describe cabinets made up out of the Catholic Christian Democratic & Flemish party (CD&V) and Humanist Democratic Centre (cdH) and the social-democratic Socialist Party Different (SP.A) and Socialist Party (PS).
