- Stejnopohlavní manželství není v Nepálu legalizované, ani uznávané. V letech 2011 a 2012, kdy země procházela přechodem z monarchie na republiku, byla do nově sepsané nepálské ústavy začleněná ochrana LGBT minority. Nicméně vyjednávání mezi politickými představiteli skončily na jaře 2012 neúspěchem a implementace prozatímní ústavy byla odložená do konání nových voleb 2013. Novou ústavu přijalo Ústavodárné shromáždění 16. září 2015 se ustanoveními o ochraně práv LGBT lidí, ale bez zmínce o stejnopohlavním manželství. (cs)
- En Nepal el matrimonio entre personas del mismo sexo no es legal y fue considerado delito hasta el 21 de diciembre de 2007. Si bien por la influencia de la cultura hindí, que respeta y acepta esta orientación sexual, se había realizado en agosto de 2006 una boda gay bajo el rito hinduista en este país asiático, tras la revuelta en abril que ocasionó la caída del régimen absolutista del rey Gyanendra y la restauración de la democracia en el país. - Nepal does not recognize same-sex marriages, civil unions, domestic partnerships, unregistered cohabitations, or any other form of recognition for same-sex couples. In 2011 and 2012, as the country was undergoing a political transition, there was an attempt to add LGBT-inclusive language to the proposed constitution. However, negotiations among political factions failed in spring 2012 and the drafting of a new constitution was placed on hold until new elections were held. A constitution was approved by the Constituent Assembly on 16 September 2015, and while it includes several provisions pertaining to the rights of LGBT people, it does not address same-sex marriages. Foreign same-sex spouses of Nepali citizens are eligible for a "Non-Tourist Visa" as a dependant, following a 2017 ruling by the Supreme Court of Nepal. (en)
