The Pelecanidae is a family of pelecaniform birds within the that contains two genera: the extinct Eopelecanus and the extant Pelecanus. The family was monotypic until the description of Eopelecanus in 2021. Pelecanids have existed since the late Eocene (Priabonian) and they still exist today.
