Categories of Natural Environment Protected Areas of Ukraine were reestablished (redefined) by the national parliament of Ukraine (Verkhovna Rada) after the fall of the Soviet Union. On June 16, 1992 the President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk signed the law on the Nature-Preservation Fund of Ukraine.
