Canelita Medina is a Venezuelan salsa singer noted for singing in the Cuban Son style. She had always dreamt of becoming a singer as a young girl, imitating the salsa singer Celia Cruz. When she entered a radio talent program on , she caught the attention of talent agents with her unique voice. Over the years, Canelita has achieved great success, both nationally and internationally, and is successful to this day. Through more than 50 years of her life as an artist, Canelita Medina has received many awards.

Ihr Debüt als Sängerin hatte sie in einem Talenteprogramm von Radio Continente. Als professionelle Sängerin trat sie dann mit Sonora Caracas (1956–64), in den 1960er Jahren mit Los Megatones de Lucho, in den 1970er Jahren mit Víctor Piñeros Los Caribes und schließlich mit den Estrellas Latinas auf. Nach einer mehrjährigen Pause kehrte sie mit Orchester als Sängerin auf die Bühne zurück. 1979 entstand ihr Soloalbum Sones y Guajiras; zwei Platten nahm sie mit dem Perkussionisten auf. (de)
