Basilissa and Anastasia (died 68 AD) are early Christian martyrs of Rome, put to death during the reign of Nero. They were among the first converts to Christianity in the 1st century after Christ. Basilissa and Anastasia were described as "Roman matrons of high rank and great wealth". They were disciples of and might have been baptized by the apostles Peter and Paul, and might have given them "honorable burials" after Peter and Paul's martyrdom in Rome on the same day in 67 AD. The location of the two tombs eventually became St. Peter's Basilica and the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls. The burials might have exposed Basilissa and Anastasia to more persecution, and they were arrested for collecting the relics of and burying the bodies of other martyred Christians. - Basilissa und Anastasia († um 68 – laut dt. Literatur 66 – in Rom) waren zwei der frühesten christlichen Märtyrinnen. Sie waren wohlhabende römische Matronen und Schülerinnen der Apostel Petrus und Paulus. Der Überlieferung zufolge verwendeten sie ihr Vermögen darauf, dass sie die Leiber von Märtyrern ehrenvoll bestatten ließen, darunter auch die der beiden Apostel. Dies kam Kaiser Nero zu Ohren. Basilissa und Anastasia wurden daraufhin verhaftet und gefoltert, ohne jedoch ihrem Glauben abzuschwören. Darüber wurde der Überlieferung zufolge Nero so wütend, dass er den beiden die Zunge herausreißen und sie schließlich mit dem Schwert enthaupten ließ. (de)

Elles se chargeaient de donner une digne sépulture aux chrétiens morts martyrisés durant la violente persécution de Néron. Cette œuvre charitable était périlleuse : elle leur valut la prison lorsque les autorités en ont eu connaissance. Devant le tribunal de Néron elles reconnurent qu’elles étaient chrétiennes. Condamnées à mort elles furent mutilées et décapitées, vers l’an 68 AD.
