- El USS Tripoli (LPH-10), fue un buque de asalto anfibio de la clase Iwo Jima, perteneció a la Armada de Estados Unidos. Fue el segundo buque en portar este nombre en honor a la batalla del puerto de Trípoli, ocurrida durante las Guerras Berberiscas. Fue puesto en grada en los astilleros Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, Filadelfia, Pensilvania el 15 de junio de 1964 y botado el 31 de julio de 1965, siendo al madrina del acto la Sra. Jane Cates, esposa del general ex Comandante del Cuerpo de Marines. Entró en servicio el 6 de agosto de 1966 y su primer Comandante fue el capitán Henry Suerstedt , Jr. Fue dado de baja del registro naval de buques el 15 de septiembre de 1995 y transferido a la custodia del Ejército estadounidense el 27 de junio de 1997. Algunas de las funciones del USS Trípoli han sido las de servir como una plataforma de lanzamiento con el programa de defensa contra misiles balísticos. (es)

- USS Tripoli (LPH-10), an Iwo Jima-class amphibious assault ship, was laid down on 15 June 1964 at Pascagoula, Mississippi, by the Ingalls Shipbuilding Corporation; launched on 31 July 1965; sponsored by Jane Cates, the wife of General Clifton B. Cates, former Commandant of the Marine Corps; and commissioned on 6 August 1966 at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. Tripoli was the second US Navy ship named for the Battle of Derna in 1805. It was the decisive victory of a mercenary army led by a detachment of US Marines and US Army soldiers against the forces of Tripoli during the First Barbary War. It was the first recorded land battle of the United States fought overseas. Following three months fitting out at Philadelphia, the ship put to sea on 6 November 1966, bound for the west coast. It transited the Panama Canal at mid-month and arrived at its home port, San Diego, on 22 November 1966. Final acceptance trials, shakedown training, and post-shakedown availability at Long Beach occupied the warship until it embarked Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron HMH-463, elements of Marine Observation Squadron VMO-6, and some members of the staff of the Commander, on 1 May 1967 and departed San Diego, bound for the western Pacific. Okręt został zamówiony 10 grudnia 1962, a jego stępkę położono 15 czerwca 1964 w Pascagoula (Missisipi) w stoczni Ingalls Shipbuilding Corporation. Jednostkę zwodowano 31 lipca 1965, matką chrzestną była pani Jane Cates, żona generała (byłego dowódcy naczelnego marines). Lotniskowiec wszedł do służby 6 sierpnia 1966 w , pierwszym dowódcą został komandor Henry Suerstedt, Jr. Nazwę okręt zawdzięczał jednemu z pierwszych konfliktów w jakich wzięli udział marines. Po trzech miesiącach doposażania w Filadelfii, okręt desantowy wyszedł w morze 6 listopada 1966 kierując się w stronę zachodniego wybrzeża USA. Przeszedł w połowie miesiąca przez Kanał Panamski i dotarł do swojego nowego portu macierzystego (San Diego) 22 listopada 1966. Ostateczne próby odbiorcze, wstępne szkolenie i sprawdziany w Long Beach trwały do momentu zaokrętowania na pokład 463 Dywizjonu Ciężkich Helikopterów Marines (Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron (HMH) 463), części 6 Dywizjonu Obserwacyjnego Marines (Marine Observation Squadron (VMO) 6) oraz niektórych członków dowództwa Eskadry Amfibijnej (Commander, Amphibious Squadron (ComPhibRon) B) 1 maja 1967.
