- Porta Venezia (bis 1860 Porta Orientale oder Porta Renza) ist eines der historischen Stadttore der Stadtmauern von Mailand. Es wurde im 19. Jahrhundert monumental umgestaltet. Schon die habsburgische Regierung des späten 18. Jahrhunderts hatte die Mailänder Stadtmauern im Sinne eines Erholungsgebietes umzugestalten begonnen. Zwischen 1783 und 1786 schuf die Gemeindeverwaltung die „Giardini pubblici“ bei der Porta Orientale. Der Mauerkranz diente im 19. Jahrhundert bereits vorwiegend dem Zweck der Erhebung der kommunalen Verbrauchssteuer (dazio comunale). Ein Projekt des dominierenden Mailänder Architekten Giuseppe Piermarini zur klassizistischen Umgestaltung des Tores von 1782 blieb zunächst unausgeführt. Sein Schüler Luigi Cagnola schuf 1806 zunächst einen provisorischen Triumphbogen für den Einzug des Vizekönigs Eugène Beauharnais. Im Jahr 1825, zum Einzug von Kaiser Franz I. und seiner Gemahlin, wurden die Arbeiten wieder aufgenommen. Die als (Steuer-)Linienamt dienenden Seitengebäude wurden 1827 und 1828 fertiggestellt. Sie sind Schöpfungen des Architekten . Im Jahr 1831 wurden schließlich die Statuen und Reliefs angebracht. Porta Orientale war auch der Name eines der sechs historischen Stadtteile von Mailand. (de)
- Porta Venezia (formerly known as Porta Orientale, Porta Renza and by other names) is one of the historical gates of the city of Milan, Italy. In its present form, the gate dates back to the 19th century; nevertheless, its origins can be traced back to the Medieval and even the Roman walls of the city. The name Porta Venezia is commonly used to refer both to the gate proper and to the surrounding district ("quartiere"), part of the Zone 3 of Milan. Porta Venezia area is undeniably known today as the LGBT-Friendly district of Milan: Via Lecco and its surroundings are Milan's Gay Street with lgbt or lgbt-themed bars and restaurants. In 2019, after a commercial advertisement campaign by Netflix Italia for the 2018 Milano Pride, Mayor Giuseppe Sala announced that Porta Venezia Metro Station would have become a Rainbow Station, thanks to the agreement with the : the rainbow colored wallpaper would have been indefinitely kept making Porta Venezia Italy's first official LGBT-dedicated urban transport stop. - Porta Venezia (già Porta Orientale fino al 1860, Porta Riconoscenza in epoca napoleonica, in milanese anche Porta Renza) è una delle sei porte principali di Milano, ricavata lungo i bastioni spagnoli, oggi demoliti. Posta a nord-est della città, si apriva lungo la strada per Gorgonzola. Caratterizzata oggi dalla presenza dei caselli neoclassici di ordine dorico dell'architetto Rodolfo Vantini (1827-1828), sorge al centro di piazza Oberdan, allo sbocco di corso Venezia. In passato Porta Orientale identificava inoltre uno dei sei sestieri storici in cui era divisa la città, il Sestiere di Porta Orientale. La porta era conosciuta anche come Porta Renza, storpiatura come nel caso di Porta Orientale della primitiva Porta Argentea di età romana. L'antica denominazione orientale di Porta Venezia non si riferisce - come è dato comunemente credere - al fatto che sorga ad est della città (sorge infatti a nord est del centro di Milano e la più orientale della città sarebbe Porta Tosa); essa deriverebbe invece dall'antico toponimo latino della porta, che si apriva verso Argentiacum, l'attuale Crescenzago.
