- Eine Comunità montana, zu Deutsch Berggemeinschaft, ist in Italien ein Verband mehrerer Berg- und Vorberggemeinden. Die einzelnen Gemeinden können hierbei auch in unterschiedlichen Provinzen liegen. Eingeführt wurden die Comunità montane in den 1970er Jahren mit dem Stand einer lokalterritorialen Körperschaft des öffentlichen Rechts. Die Einrichtung der einzelnen Berggemeinschaften erfolgt durch Dekret des Präsidenten der Region. Den Berggemeinschaften gleichgestellt sind die Insel- bzw. Archipelgemeinschaften ( bzw. ). Die Comunità montana hat die Aufwertung der Bergregionen zur Aufgabe und kann kommunale Funktionen, wie z. B. die Müllabfuhr, für die angeschlossenen Gemeinden übernehmen. Berggemeinschaften existieren in allen Regionen, mit Ausnahme von Sizilien (1986 abgeschafft), Sardinien (2007 aufgehoben), Ligurien (2010 abgeschafft) und Trentino-Südtirol. Im Südtirol existieren stattdessen Bezirksgemeinschaften, im Trentino Talgemeinschaften, die aber weitergehende Funktionen als diejenigen der Berggemeinschaften ausüben. Im französischsprachigen Aostatal wurden die Berggemeinschaften (französisch Communautés de montagne) von den Unionen Aostataler Gemeinden (französisch Unités des Communes Valdôtaines) abgelöst. (de)

It is constituted by the president of the regional council and the mountain and foothill comuni, even those that may be located in different provinces. Chacune d'elles est instituée par la région à laquelle elle appartient et regroupe des communes situées en zone de montagne et de prémontagne. Sa finalité est de valoriser les zones de montagne en exerçant des fonctions propres ou par l'exercice en commun d'attributions normalement dévolues aux communes.Elle peut, pour certains aspects, s'apparenter aux communautés de communes du droit français. - Una comunità montana è un ente territoriale locale italiano istituito con legge 3 dicembre 1971, n. 1102 e ora disciplinato dall'art. 27 del d. lgs. 18 agosto 2000, n. 267 (testo unico sugli enti locali): si tratta di un ente pubblico ad appartenenza obbligatoria, costituito con provvedimento del presidente della giunta regionale tra comuni montani e pedemontani, anche appartenenti a province diverse, con lo scopo di valorizzare le zone montane, per l'esercizio di funzioni proprie, conferite, nonché l'esercizio associato di funzioni comunali.
