- The District of Louisiana, or Louisiana District, was an official and temporary United States government designation for the portion of the Louisiana Purchase that had not been organized into the Territory of Orleans or "Orleans Territory" (the portion of the Louisiana Purchase south of the 33rd parallel, which is now the Arkansas–Louisiana state line). The district officially existed from March 10, 1804, until July 4, 1805, when it was incorporated as the Louisiana Territory. The area north of present-day Arkansas was commonly referred to as Upper Louisiana. The United States District of Louisiana had two incarnations: first, as a federally administered military district (March 10, 1804 - September 30, 1804); then as an organized territory (October 1, 1804 - July 4, 1805) under the jurisdiction of the Indiana Territory. A similarly named "Louisiana District" had also previously been an administrative division under Spanish and French rule. (en)

- Dystrykt Luizjany (ang. District of Louisiana) − niezorganizowane USA istniejące w latach 1804–1805 na ziemiach kupionych od Francji i niewłączonych do Terytorium Orleanu. W ustawach z 31 października 1803 roku Kongres Stanów Zjednoczonych uchwalił utworzenie tymczasowego zarządu dla ziem nabytych od Francji. Prezydent Thomas Jefferson został upoważniony do użycia wojska do wprowadzenia na tym obszarze porządku. Oficjalne przejęcie terytoriów od Francji nastąpiło w okresie od 10 marca do 30 września 1804 roku. Komendantem Luizjany był przez ten okres . 1 października 1804 roku weszła w życie ustawa z 26 marca, która rozszerzyła władzę instytucji na Dystrykt Luizjany. Włączenie Luizjany spotkało się z protestami części mieszkańców, wśród protestujących był założyciel St. Louis, . W okresie istnienia Dystryktu podpisano z plemionami Sauków i Lisów, w którym przekazali oni tereny dzisiejszych stanów północno-wschodniego Missouri, północnego Illinois i południowego Wisconsin Stanom Zjednoczonym. W efekcie niezadowolenia część Indian stanęła po stronie brytyjskiej w wojnie amerykańsko-brytyjskiej w 1812 roku oraz wywołała w 1832 roku. 3 marca 1805 roku Kongres utworzył z ziem Dystryktu Terytorium Luizjany, zmiany weszły w życie 4 lipca.
