- The 1963 German football championship was the culmination of the football season in the Federal Republic of Germany in 1962–63. Borussia Dortmund were crowned champions for the third time after a group stage and a final, having previously won the championship in 1956 and 1957. On the strength of this title, the club participated in the 1963–64 European Cup, where Borussia lost to F.C. Internazionale Milano in the semi-finals. Runners-up 1. FC Köln made its third appearance in the national title game, having won the previous years championship and lost in 1960. The format used to determine the German champion was similar to the one used in the 1962 season. Nine clubs qualified for the tournament, with the runners-up of South and North having to play a qualifying match. The remaining eight clubs then played a home-and-away round in two groups of four, with the two group winners entering the final. In the previous year, a single round had been played in the group stages because of the 1962 FIFA World Cup, where Germany participated in, to reduce the schedule. The 1963 edition marked the last year, where the German championship was decided in a final. From 1963 onwards, the championship would go to the new Bundesliga champion. (en)

- El Campeonato Alemán de Fútbol 1963 fue la 53.ª edición de la máxima competición futbolística de Alemania Occidental hasta la creación de la Bundesliga en 1963, que supuso un profundo cambio en el Campeonato Alemán. El histórico formato de ligas regionales y fase final nacional fue abandonado en favor de una única liga nacional unificada. 16 equipos de las cinco Oberligas en funcionamiento fueron invitados a participar en el nuevo campeonato. La nueva liga adoptó un formato de todos contra todos en el que cada equipo juega contra todos los demás una vez en casa y otra fuera. No hay play-off, el equipo con mejor puntuación al final de la temporada es proclamado campeón de Alemania. (es)
- La saison 1962-1963 du Championnat de RFA de football était la 53e édition de la première division allemande. Le championnat est disputé par les 9 meilleurs clubs de RFA. Après un tour préliminaire qui concerne 2 équipes pour une place en phase finale, les 8 équipes qualifiées sont regroupés en 2 poules de 4 équipes, où chaque formation rencontre ses adversaires une fois sur terrain neutre. Le premier de chaque poule se qualifie pour la finale nationale, disputée sur un match. C'est le Borussia Dortmund qui remporte le championnat en battant en finale le champion de RFA en titre, le FC Cologne. C'est le 3e titre de champion d'Allemagne de l'histoire du club. (fr)

- Het seizoen 1962/63 was het 54e seizoen om het Duitse voetbalkampioenschap ingericht door de DFB. Het werd het laatste seizoen om het landskampioenschap met een eindronde waaraan de kampioenen en nummers twee van de Oberligas deelnamen. Vanaf het seizoen 1963/64 ging de Bundesliga als nationale overkoepelende competitie van start. Van de negen deelnemende clubs aan de eindronde speelden eerst twee clubs een kwalificatieronde om een startplaats voor de groepswedstrijden. De acht gekwalificeerde teams voor deze groepswedstrijden speelden in twee groepen van vier clubs een volledige competitie. De beide winnaars speelden de finalewedstrijd op 29 juni 1963 in het Neckarstadion in Stuttgart. (nl)
