Menahem ben Saruq (also known as Menahem ben Jacob ibn Saruq, Hebrew: מנחם בן סרוק) was a Spanish-Jewish philologist of the tenth century CE. He was a skilled poet and polyglot. He was born in Tortosa around 920 and died around 970 in Cordoba. Menahem produced an early dictionary of the Hebrew language. For a time he was the assistant of the great Jewish statesman Hasdai ibn Shaprut, and was involved in both literary and diplomatic matters; his dispute with Dunash ben Labrat, however, led to his downfall.

Er lebte in Córdoba. Sein hebräisches Wörterbuch Machberet wurde von seinem Gegenspieler Dunasch ben Labrat und dessen Schülern aufgrund mangelnder Wissenschaftlichkeit scharf kritisiert, dennoch kommt diesem Buch das Verdienst zu, das erste einigermaßen vollständige Wörterbuch der hebräischen Sprache zu sein, das zudem die Wortstämme nach Sprachwurzeln sortiert. Es wurde über Jahrhunderte hinweg eifrig benutzt. (de) Menahem ben Saruq, poeta hebreo que nació en Tortosa (por entonces Turtusha) en fecha indeterminada entre el año 910 y el 920. No se sabe nada sobre su educación, posiblemente fuera autodidacta. En el año 959 aparece en Córdoba, al servicio de la familia ben Saprut. Su primer protector, seguramente en Jaén, será , padre de Hasdai ibn Shaprut, famoso mecenas. Menahem hará de secretario y de poeta de la familia. Foi educado por seu pai, que era professor, mas foi autodidata em diversos assuntos, se tornando o protótipo intelectual judeu em al-Andalus, desempenhando um papel decisivo no nascimento e desenvolvimento da filologia e poesia hebraica andaluza.
