Calatayud is a Spanish Denominación de Origen Protegida (DOP) for wines located in the southwestern corner of the province of Zaragoza (Aragón, Spain) about 90 km from Zaragoza and covers over 5,600 ha, extending over 46 different municipalities, including Calatayud itself. It borders with the Cariñena (DO) in the east and with the province of Soria in the west. It is in the Ebro River valley and is crisscrossed by many of the Ebro's tributaries including the Jalón, Jiloca, , Mesa (river), Piedra and Ribota. The vineyards are found on the south facing slopes of the Sierra de la Virgen range at heights of between 550 m and 800 m above sea level.

NN. und umfasst weite Teile der Comunidad de Calatayud, insgesamt von 46 Gemeinden im Tal des Ebro und den Tälern seiner Nebenflüsse Jalón, Jiloca, Manubles, Mesa, Piedra und Ribota, im westlichen Teil der Provinz Saragossa (Aragonien). Das Rebland wird von ca. 2700 Winzern bearbeitet und es bestehen 9 Bodegas. Calatayud erhielt im Februar 1990 den Status einer D.O. Die angebauten Rebsorten sind: (de) La DO Calatayud está localizada en la parte más occidental de la provincia de Zaragoza; cuenta con 16 bodegas productoras diseminadas por el conjunto de su territorio, y su viñedo está distribuido por 46 municipios, en una zona enmarcada por las formaciones montañosas del macizo del Moncayo y que se organiza alrededor de una compleja red fluvial formada por varios afluentes del río Ebro: Jalón, Jiloca, Perejiles, Manubles, Mesa, Piedra y Ribota. La superficie que ocupa se extiende sobre un terreno excepcional para el cultivo de la vid. Las características de sus vinos son el resultado de la interacción del microclima, de la amplia gama de suelos y de una uva, como es la garnacha, con una perfecta adaptación a la zona, tal que produce unos vinos con una marcada personalidad.
