La evaluación es un proceso que debe ser planeado, relacionado con los objetivos, competencias y criterios establecidos, plasmados en el programa de estudio, estos aspectos deben estar claramente descritos con el propósito de que el alumno conozca la forma en que será evaluado, teniendo el control de su aprendizaje y de su calificación, de la misma manera, en este proceso se debe hacer uso de diversos instrumentos de evaluación válidos y fiables que logren medir de una forma más precisa lo que se pretenden conocer. ​ Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) was a process of assessment, mandated by the Right to Education Act, of India in 2009. This approach to assessment was introduced by state governments in India, as well as by the Central Board of Secondary Education in India, for students of sixth to tenth grades and twelfth in some schools. From this the smaller classes student would have a practice to face the exam of board in younger age. The Karnataka government introduced CCE for grades 1 through 9 later it was also introduced for 12th grades students. The main aim of CCE was to evaluate every aspect of the child during their presence at the school. La evaluación es un proceso que debe ser planeado, relacionado con los objetivos, competencias y criterios establecidos, plasmados en el programa de estudio, estos aspectos deben estar claramente descritos con el propósito de que el alumno conozca la forma en que será evaluado, teniendo el control de su aprendizaje y de su calificación, de la misma manera, en este proceso se debe hacer uso de diversos instrumentos de evaluación válidos y fiables que logren medir de una forma más precisa lo que se pretenden conocer. ​ Las buenas prácticas de evaluación son aquellas prácticas sin sorpresas, enmarcadas en la enseñanza, donde el alumno es protagonista de ese aprendizaje y construye el conocimiento a través de la información que se desprende de los datos que arrojan los procesos evaluativos ​ Evaluación continua es una forma de entender la evaluación educativa. Es un tipo de evaluación que se debe llevar a cabo durante todas las etapas de aprendizaje del estudiante. Esta se entiende como un proceso fundamental para la enseñanza que aumenta la probabilidad de que sea efectiva para el aprendizaje de los estudiantes. La evaluación continua permite al profesor manejar las diferencias entre los alumnos en una sala de clases, y por lo tanto también se entiende como una práctica inclusiva. La evaluación continua incluye la evaluación de tipo diagnóstico, formativa y sumativa. Esta evaluación exige que los profesores no solo "evalúen al final del proceso de aprendizaje la asimilación de conocimientos y el desarrollo de competencias por parte de los estudiantes, sino que, a lo largo del curso deben proponer una cierta periodicidad actividades, de carácter evaluable, que faciliten la asimilación y el desarrollo progresivos de los contenidos de la materia y de las competencias que deben alcanzarse, respectivamente. De esta forma, la evaluación se convierte en continua o progresiva, y el profesor puede realizar un mayor y mejor seguimiento del progreso en el aprendizaje del estudiante".​ La evaluación continua permite proporcionar retroalimentación de los conocimientos adquiridos en un pequeño periodo de tiempo, de manera que el alumno pueda ir centrando su aprendizaje en las áreas de oportunidad, aumentando la posibilidad de aprobación, aunque esto también puede generar en el estudiante ansiedad y actitud positiva o negativa según las notas que va obteniendo.​ Amplía el concepto de “evaluación formativa” porque la posiciona como una evaluación para el aprendizaje . Es decir, que va más allá de pensar en evaluar lo aprendido por los y las estudiantes sino que además suma a evaluar la enseñanza de los y las docentes en este mismo proceso. The CCE method was claimed to bring enormous changes from the traditional chalk and talk method of teaching, provided it is implemented accurately. As a part of this system, students' marks were replaced by grades which were evaluated through a series of curricular and extra-curricular evaluations along with academics. The aim was to decrease the workload on the student by means of continuous evaluation by taking number of small tests throughout the year in place of single test at the end of the academic program. Only grades were awarded to students based on work experience skills, dexterity, innovation, steadiness, teamwork, public speaking, behaviour, etc. to evaluate and present an overall measure of the student's ability. This helps the students who are not good in academics to show their talent in other fields such as arts, humanities, sports, music, athletics, and also helps to motivate the students who have a thirst of knowledge. In 2017, the CCE system was cancelled for students appearing in the Class 10 Board Exam for 2017-18, bringing back compulsory Annual Board Exam and removing the Formative and Summative Assessments under the Remodeled Assessment Pattern.
