- The Association of Polish Artists and Designers (Związek Polskich Artystów Plastyków, ZPAP) is an official association of professional artists in Poland, representing more than 8,500 learned artists working in the field of visual arts, including: painting, sculpture, graphic design, interior and set design, ceramics, fabric arts, as well as new media, and art restoration. The Association was founded in 1911 in Kraków during the Partitions of Poland. In the interwar period until 1939 it served as a trade union and in 1945, following World War II, it was formally re-established as an association. In 1980, ZPAP supported the Solidarity movement and opposed the imposition of martial law in 1981. Consequently, the military authorities disbanded the Association when it refused to retract its communiqués. ZPAP operated unofficially until the restoration of democracy in 1989. Today, ZPAP features prominently across the country with 23 regional Chapters, paid staff, curators, publications, and regional art galleries promoting work of its members. (en)
- Der Verband der Polnischen Bildenden Künstler (polnisch: Związek Polskich Artystów Plastyków, kurz ZPAP) ist die wichtigste Interessenvertretung von professionellen Künstlern und Designern in Polen. Der Verband hat rund 8500 Mitglieder, die im Bereich der bildenden Künste tätig sind: Malerei, Glasmalerei, Bildhauerei, Grafikdesign, Innen- und Bühnengestaltung, Industriedesign, Glas, Keramik, neue Medien und Restaurierung von Kunstwerken. Die Gründung des Verbandes erfolgte im Jahr 1911 in Krakau, bis 1939 wurde die Vereinigung in Form einer Gewerkschaft geführt. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde ZPAP als Verband wiedergegründet. Während der Zeit des Kriegsrechts in Polen unterstützte ZPAP die unabhängige Gewerkschaft Solidarność und opponierte gegen die Militärregime. Als Folge wurde der Verband von den Militärbehörden – nach Weigerung, mehrere Erklärungen zurückzuziehen – 1982 . ZPAP-Vertreter arbeiteten im Untergrund weiter und 1989 wurde der Verband wieder zugelassen. Heute ist ZPAP landesweit in 23 Regionen eingeteilt und fördert über Verlagstätigkeiten wie Regionalausstellungen die Entwicklung der Kunst in Polen und seiner Mitglieder. (de)
