- أضواء يهودي (بالإنجليزية: Yehudi lights) هو شكل من التمويه النشط باستخدام الإضاءة العكسية (بالإنجليزية: Counter-illumination) وذلك بوضع مصابيح إضاءة على الجانب السفلي أو على حافة جناح الأمامي للطائرة لرفع استضوائها لمعدل سطوع السماء. هدف هذه الأضواء هو حجب الطائرة عن الظهور كنقطة سوداء في السماء. طورت هذه التقنية من قبل البحرية الأمريكية في عام 1943، بالاعتماد على بحث للبحرية الملكية الكندية ، مشروع التمويه الضوئي المنتشر (بالإنجليزية: Diffused lighting camouflage). لم تصل هذه التقنية إلى حد الاستخدام الميداني واهملت بعد الحرب بسبب التقدم في تقنية الرادار. مع التحسين الكبير في تقنية التخفي عادت أضواء يهودي إلى الواجهة. - L'éclairage Yehudi est une technique de camouflage militaire développée par la Marine américaine dans les années 1940. Il consiste en une série de lampes placées sur le côté inférieur ou le bord d'attaque de l'aile d'un avion afin d'augmenter la luminosité de l'appareil pour qu'elle corresponde à celle du ciel. De cette manière, l'aéronef n'apparait plus comme un objet sombre dans un ciel et est donc plus difficile à repérer. Lors d'essais, un bombardier-torpilleur Grumman TBF Avenger équipé de cet éclairage est ainsi parvenu à s'approcher à 2 700 m d'un navire sans être repéré contre 19 kilomètres pour un avion non camouflé. Le développement des radars a néanmoins rendu cette technologie obsolète dès la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale même si le concept a été récemment envisagé pour le camouflage des drones. (fr)
- Le luci Yehudi sono state un progetto di camuffamento attraverso controilluminazione, consistente in una serie di lampade disposta sulla sagoma di un aereo in modo da confonderne il profilo agli occhi di osservatori posti a terra o su navi. Il progetto fu iniziato con alcuni studi condotti dalla Royal Canadian Navy durante la seconda guerra mondiale, poi rilanciati nel 1943 dagli statunitensi con sperimentazioni sul Grumman TBF Avenger e sul Consolidated B-24 Liberator, nonché su una bomba planante della US Navy. Altre sperimentazioni furono portate avanti dalla Royal Navy inglese su navi e aerei. L'origine del nome potrebbe derivare dall'espressione gergale degli anni trenta del ventesimo secolo Who's Yehoodi? ("Chi è Yehoodi?") coniata da Jerry Colonna, spalla del comico Bob Hope, in una trasmissione radiofonica, come riempitivo delle pause, diventata sinonimo di "persona misteriosamente assente", anche se, di norma, a fini di sicurezza, i nomi dei progetti segreti venivano scelti senza alcun'attinenza coi loro contenuti. - Yehudi lights are lamps of automatically controlled brightness placed on the front and leading edges of an aircraft to raise the aircraft's luminance to the average brightness of the sky, a form of active camouflage using counter-illumination. They were designed to camouflage the aircraft by preventing it from appearing as a dark object against the sky. The technology was developed by the US Navy from 1943 onwards, to enable a sea-search aircraft to approach a surfaced submarine to "within 30 seconds of flying time" before becoming visible to the submarine's crew. This in turn enabled the aircraft to engage the submarine with depth charges before it could dive, to counter the threat from German submarines to allied shipping. The concept was based on earlier research by the Royal Canadian Navy in its diffused lighting camouflage project. Yehudi lights were unused in the war and were made obsolete by advanced postwar radar. With 1970s improvements in stealth technology, they again attracted interest. (en)
