これまでBBCは独自編成のBBCアメリカとして放送していた。BBCワールドをケーブルテレビで放送するにあたり、朝のニュース番組として2006年7月3日に始まった。ニューヨーク午前7時、ロンドン正午、東京はロンドンが夏時間の時期は午後8時、それ以外の時期は午後9時からの放送。イギリス国内向けBBC Oneの6時のニュースを担当しているジョージ・アレガイアーがキャスターを務める。
9月18日からは第2弾として、ニック・ゴーイングがキャスターのワールド・ニュース・トゥデイが開始。ニューヨーク午後4時、ロンドン午後9時、東京はロンドンが夏時間の時期は翌朝5時から、それ以外の時期は翌朝6時からの放送で、ヨーロッパ、アジア太平洋地域を視野に入れている。 (ja)
