- Wonderland es el álbum debut del dueto inglés de synth pop Erasure, producido y publicado en 1986 por Mute Records en el Reino Unido y Sire Records en los Estados Unidos. No tuvo un éxito inmediato. De hecho, el álbum solo alcanzó el puesto 71 del ranking británico. Los tres sencillos publicados no consiguieron entrar en el UK Singles Chart, ni el Billboard Hot 100 de los Estados Unidos. Hubo intenciones de que Say What fuera el cuarto corte pero finalmente se desestimó en pos de lanzar el sencillo del próximo álbum. La exposición inicial de Erasure en los Estados Unidos se dio a través de las discotecas, llegando 2 de los sencillos al Top 10 del ranking Hot Dance/Club Play de la revista Billboard. Vince Clarke originalmente había planeado trabajar con diferentes vocalistas para cada tema del álbum, sin embargo, debido a la química musical con Andy Bell, colaboraron en todo el álbum convirtiéndolo en una sociedad permanente. Wonderland contient le tout premier succès du groupe : la chanson Oh l'amour, parue quelques mois auparavant. Le groupe Erasure n'ayant pas encore été découvert dans son propre pays, le succès commercial de Wonderland se limita à l'Allemagne et à la Suède. En France, le succès pourtant notable du single Oh l'amour (se hissant jusqu'au n°14 en 16 semaines de présence au Top 50) n'a pas suffi à faire entrer l'album Wonderland dans le classement des ventes d'albums. Une réédition remastérisée de cet album, augmentée d'un second CD et d'un DVD en bonus, est parue le 4 juillet 2011. Le DVD comporte un concert inédit remontant au tout début de la carrière d'Erasure, Live at Karlsson, enregistré à Stockholm en Suède, le 8 août 1986. Le 5 février 2016, dans le cadre de la célébration des 30 ans d'Erasure, l'album Wonderland est réédité au format vinyle 33 tours. (fr)

Not an immediate success, the three singles released from it failed to crack the top 40 in the UK. "Who Needs Love Like That" would eventually make the UK top 10 in 1992, and "Oh L'amour" reached the UK top 20 in 2003, both in remixed form promoting their Pop! The First 20 Hits and Hits! compilations respectively. However, the album fared better in both Germany and Sweden, where it charted within the top 20. Erasure's initial exposure in the US came via dance clubs, as two singles reached the top 10 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. At the time of its release, Wonderland was considered a failure, especially when comparing it to Clarke's prior successes with Depeche Mode and Yazoo. Andy Bell has stated that Alison Moyet was an influence of his vocals and he used to practice to Yazoo songs. (en)
