William Marshal, 2nd Earl of Pembroke (French: Guillaume le Maréchal) (1190 – 6 April 1231) was a medieval English nobleman and was one of Magna Carta sureties. He fought during the First Barons' War and was present at the Battle of Lincoln (1217) alongside his father William Marshal, 1st Earl of Pembroke, who led the English troops in that battle. He commissioned the first biography of a medieval knight to be written, called L'Histoire de Guillaume le Mareschal, in honour of his father.

Durch einen erfolgreichen Feldzug gegen die Waliser 1223 sicherte er die englische Herrschaft in Südwestwales und befriedete die Region bis in die 1250er Jahre. Im irischen Leinster setzte er das Werk seines Vaters fort und förderte die Kolonisierung durch Zuzug von englischen Siedlern und durch die Förderung von Klöstern, so dass das Gebiet unter seiner Herrschaft eine Periode der Stabilität und des Friedens erlebte. Zur Sicherung seiner umfangreichen Besitzungen baute oder erweiterte Marshal zahlreiche Burgen wie Cilgerran und Chepstow in Wales und Carlow in Leinster. (de)
