- Vistalite drums were a line of acrylic drums produced by the Ludwig Drum company, introduced in 1972. The name Vistalite refers to the translucent plastic that the shells were made out of. Vistalite and acrylic offered a synthetic alternative to wood shells and were popularized by rock drummer John Bonham of Led Zeppelin. The original Vistalites are a collectors item. Bill Zickos was the father of the acrylic drums; he built the first experimental set in 1959 and received a US Patent (patent #3,626,458) for them in 1970. (en)
- I Vistalite drums furono una linea speciale di batterie con fusti in materiale acrilico introdotta dalla casa produttrice americana Ludwig nel 1972. Il nome si riferisce al materiale plastico trasparente con cui erano realizzati i fusti dei tamburi. La linea riscosse un buon successo durante gli anni settanta, tanto che anche altri produttori di batterie come , Sonor e Pearl realizzarono delle proprie linee in plastica trasparente. Negli anni ottanta la Ludwig interruppe la produzione dei Vistalite Drums, anche se di recente (2001) sono state realizzate delle serie limitate. Un famoso kit Vistalite (Ludwig Amber Vistalite) color ambra trasparente fu usato da John Bonham dei Led Zeppelin. (it)
