- قرار مجلس الأمن التابع للأمم المتحدة رقم 1926، الذي تم تبنيه بالإجماع في 2 يونيو 2010، بعد الإشارة إلى استقالة قاضي محكمة العدل الدولية توماس بويرجينثال اعتبارًا من 6 سبتمبر 2010. قرر المجلس إجراء الانتخابات لملء المنصب الشاغر في 9 سبتمبر 2010 في اجتماع لمجلس الأمن وفي اجتماع للجمعية العامة. وكان يتعين ملء المنصب الشاغر وفقا للنظام الأساسي لمحكمة العدل الدولية. عمل بويرجنثال في محكمة العدل الدولية منذ آذار (مارس) 2000. أعيد انتخابه في عام 2006 لولاية مدتها تسع سنوات تبدأ في فبراير 2006. - La Resolució 1926 del Consell de Seguretat de les Nacions Unides, adoptada per unanimitat el 2 de juny de 2010 va decidir que l'elecció per cobrir la vacant de , magistrat de la Cort Internacional de Justícia (CIJ), tindria lloc el 9 de setembre d'aquest mateix any en sengles sessions del Consell de Seguretat i de la Assemblea General de les Nacions Unides. The Council decided that the election to fill the vacancy would take place on September 9, 2010 at a meeting of the Security Council and at a meeting of the General Assembly. The vacancy had to be filled in accordance with the Statute of the ICJ. Buergenthal had served at the ICJ since March 2000.
