- Bajo la red (título original en inglés, Under the Net) es la primera novela de Iris Murdoch, publicada en el año 1954. Ambientada en Londres, es la historia de un joven escritor, Jake Donaghue. Su mezcla de lo filosófico y lo picaresco ha hecho que se trate de la obra más popular de Murdoch. Dedicó la novela a Raymond Queneau. Cuando Jake deja el piso de Madge en el capítulo 1, dos de los libros que menciona haberse llevado son de Samuel Beckett, y Pierrot mon Ami de Queneau, ambos tienen resonancias en esta historia. El epígrafe, de la de John Dryden, se refiere a la forma en la que el principal personaje es llevado de un lugar a otro por sus malentendidos. En 2005, la novela fue elegida por la revista TIME como una de las cien mejores novelas en inglés de 1923 hasta aquella fecha. Los editores de Modern Library eligieron la obra como una de las mejores novelas escritas en inglés en el siglo XX. (es)

L'histoire est celle de Jake Donaghue, un écrivain en difficulté, qui rentre à Londres après un voyage à Paris et qui va devoir renouer avec son ancien ami, Hugo, et rattraper ses erreurs du passé. Ce roman a reçu de plusieurs distinctions. Le Time l'a notamment classé en 2005 comme l'un des meilleurs romans anglophones publiés depuis 1923 . - Under the Net is a 1954 novel by Iris Murdoch. It was Murdoch's first published novel. Set in London, it is the story of a struggling young writer, Jake Donaghue. Its mixture of the philosophical and the picaresque has made it one of Murdoch's most popular novels. It is dedicated to Raymond Queneau. When Jake leaves Madge's flat in Chapter 1, two of the books he mentions taking are Murphy by Samuel Beckett, and Pierrot mon ami by Queneau, both of which are echoed in this story.
