Αγοράστηκε από το Αμερικανικό ναυτικό στα πλαίσια της στρατιωτικής βοήθειας. Η Ελληνική σημαία υψώθηκε στο Τσάρλεστον στις 25 Οκτωβρίου 1973. Κατέπλευσε στην Ελλάδα στις 19 Ιουλίου 1974. Παροπλίστηκε στις 31 Μαρτίου 1993. Ιδίου τύπου υποβρύχιο είναι το Παπανικολής ΙΙ. (el)
