- USS Pentheus (ARL-20) was one of 39 Achelous-class landing craft repair ships built for the United States Navy during World War II. Named for Pentheus (a king of Thebes, according to Greek legend), she was the only U.S. Naval vessel to bear the name. Originally laid down as LST–1115 by the Chicago Bridge and Iron Company of Seneca, Illinois on 29 September 1944; launched 22 December 1944; and placed in reduced commission 4 January 1945. Proceeding to Baltimore, Maryland, she decommissioned 6 February 1945; underwent conversion; and was commissioned in full as USS Pentheus (ARL–20) 7 June 1945. (en)
- USS Pentheus (ARL-20) był amerykańskim okrętem do naprawy okrętów desantowych typu Achelous, który pełnił służbę w US Navy pod koniec II wojny światowej. Był jedynym okrętem amerykańskim noszącym nazwę pochodząca od Penteusza – króla Teb z greckiej mitologii. Stępkę jednostki planowanej wtedy jako LST–1115 położono w Chicago Bridge and Iron Company w Seneca (Illinois) 29 września 1944. Okręt został zwodowany 22 grudnia 1944 i umieszczony w ograniczonej służbie (ang. reduced commission) 4 stycznia 1945. Przeszedł przebudowę i został wcielony do normalnej służby (ang. full commission) jako USS Pentheus (ARL–20) 7 czerwca 1945. Pierwszym dowódcą został Lieutenant Mason E. Brock, USNR. (pl)
