- La copulation traumatique ou insémination traumatique est un mode de reproduction chez certains animaux à carapace non équipés d'orifice sexuel.Le mâle plante son édéage perforateur (pénis muni de pièces vulnérantes) dans les voies génitales (vagin primaire ou secondaire) ou dans la carapace de la femelle, les spermatozoïdes migrant alors plusieurs jours dans l'hémolymphe de la femelle avant de féconder les ovules. Plusieurs explications évolutives sont données pour justifier l'apparition de ce type d'insémination. Elle favoriserait le dépôt des spermatozoïdes au plus près des ovaires, faciliterait les rapports sexuels rapides entre des partenaires nombreux brièvement en contact, éviterait au mâle de faire une longue cour nuptiale (voire d'essuyer un refus de copulation), contournerait le bouchon copulatoire qui limite la compétition spermatique. L'insémination traumatique vaginale peut être intra-génitale (punaises de la sous-famille des ) ou extra-génitale au niveau du (en) (punaise des lits, punaises de la sous-famille des (en) ou strepsiptère (en)). - Traumatic insemination, also known as hypodermic insemination, is the mating practice in some species of invertebrates in which the male pierces the female's abdomen with his aedeagus and injects his sperm through the wound into her abdominal cavity (hemocoel). The sperm diffuse through the female's hemolymph, reaching the ovaries and resulting in fertilization. The process is detrimental to the female's health. It creates an open wound which impairs the female until it heals, and is susceptible to infection. The injection of sperm and ejaculatory fluids into the hemocoel can also trigger an immune reaction in the female. Bed bugs, which reproduce solely by traumatic insemination, have evolved a pair of sperm-receptacles, known as the spermalege. It has been suggested that the spermalege reduces the direct damage to the female bed bug during traumatic insemination. However experiments found no conclusive evidence for that hypothesis; as of 2003, the preferred explanation for that organ is hygienic protection against bacteria. The evolutionary origins of traumatic insemination are disputed. Although it evolved independently in many invertebrate species, traumatic insemination is most highly adapted and thoroughly studied in bed bugs, particularly Cimex lectularius. Traumatic insemination is not limited to male-female couplings, or even couplings of the same species. Both homosexual and inter-species traumatic inseminations have been observed. (en)
- Traumatische inseminatie treedt bij sommige insecten op (onder andere bij de bedwants en bij strepsiptera) en betekent dat het mannetje het lichaam van het vrouwtje doorboort om de zaadcellen op de bestemde plaats te kunnen brengen. Er wordt meestal geen gebruik gemaakt van een vrouwelijk paringsorgaan. Soms is dat er wel maar wordt het bij de paring vernield. In dit geval kan het vrouwtje dus maar één keer paren in haar leven. Bij de bedwants is het echter gebruikelijk dat het vrouwtje meerdere malen paart. Bij het bedwantsengenus en bij de bloemwants is zelfs homoseksuele traumatische inseminatie waargenomen, waarbij een mannetje zijn scherpe geslachtsorgaan gebruikt om het sperma direct in het onderlijf van een ander mannetje te steken. Het zaad van het ene mannetje is aangetoond in de geslachtsorganen van het andere mannetje maar het is niet zeker of dit mannetje het zaad van beide mannetjes kan overbrengen als hij daarna paart met een vrouwtje. Bij de zeenaaktslak treedt er ook traumatische inseminatie op, maar deze doet dat in het hoofd van de partner (beide partners zijn hermafrodiet). (nl)
