Construïdes el 1977 sobre els plànols d', les torres Aillaud estan compostes de 18 torres d'habitatges formant 1607 pisos. Cadascuna de les torres és formada de diversos cilindres ajuntats. Die beiden größten Gebäude haben eine Höhe von 105 Metern. Alle 18 Gebäude sind nach dem gleichen Grundriss entworfen. Insgesamt bieten sie Wohnraum für 1607 Mietparteien. Ursprünglich als zukunftsweisende und vorbildhafte Architektur für Wohnsiedlungen in den Vororten der Großstädte gedacht, entwickelte sich das Wohnviertel seit Beginn der 1980er-Jahre zu einem sozialen Brennpunkt. Die Wohntürme sind mit der Métrostation La Défense und dem Bahnhof La Défense an den öffentlichen Nahverkehr im Großraum Paris angebunden. (de)

- The Tours Aillaud (also known as Tours Nuages) is a group of residential buildings located in Nanterre, in the inner suburbs of Paris, France. Built in 1976 at the outskirts of La Défense business district, the Tours Aillaud are named after their main architect, Emile Aillaud. The housing project represents 18 towers including 1,607 apartments all together. The tallest of those are the Tours 1 and 2 with 39 floors and a height of 105 meters. The Tours 3 to 10 have 20 floors and the Tours 11 to 18 have 13 floors. Despite the differences in height, the towers share the same shape, consisting of the superposition of several cylinders. Their cladding is made of frescos representing clouds in the sky (in French nuages), which is the origin of their nickname. The frescos in "pate de verre" were designed by Fabio Rieti, son-in-law of Emile Aillaud, while his daughter Laurence Rieti designed the large snake shaped sculpture that constitutes a large part of the playground area near the highest towers. Emile Aillaud noticeably looked after the outdoor area so that there would be one tree per apartment, and so that each apartment would have a designated tree (there were more than 1600 of them). (en)

Kompleks składa się 18 wieżowców, oznaczonych kolejno od 1 do 18 (np. Tour Aillaud 11, Tour Aillaud 18 itp.), 8 budynków ma 13 kondygnacji, kolejne 8 liczy po 20 kondygnacji, natomiast dwie wieże (Tour Aillaud 1 oraz Tour Aillaud 2) liczą 39 kondygnacji i mierzą 105 metrów wysokości. Wszystkie budynki powstały w 1977 roku, a cały zespół mieszkalny Tours Aillaud wziął swoją nazwę od nazwiska architekta , który zaprojektował kompleks, natomiast druga nazwa Tours Nuages (znacząca; Wieżowce Chmur) wzięła się najprawdopodobniej od charakterystycznej elewacji budynków pokrytych freskami chmur. Inną charakterystyczna cechą budynków jest fakt, że budynki te nie posiadają balkonów, a jedynie okna. Budynki swoją forma przypominają nieco formy katowickich wieżowców Kukurydze. (pl)
