- Terapne o Terapna (en griego, Θεράπνη) fue una antigua población griega de Laconia dependiente de Esparta. Su nombre procedía, según la mitología griega, de una hija de . El lugar era distinguido por albergar un templo de Menelao, donde se creía que estaban sepultados los cuerpos de Helena y Menelao. Heródoto ubica en Terapne un santuario de Helena y relata la tradición de que una nodriza iba cada día a ese santuario a pedir que librara a una niña del aspecto tan feo que tenía y un día apareció una mujer que acarició el cabello de la niña y le dijo que sería la más bella de Esparta, tras lo cual ese mismo día cambió el aspecto de la niña. El poeta lírico Alcmán en el siglo VII a. C. ya menciona un templo en Terapne. Por otra parte, Píndaro cita la ciudad como uno de los lugares donde residían los Dioscuros. En Terapne se hallaba también una fuente llamada Meseida y otra llamada Polideucea. Cerca de Terapne se hallaba, en un lugar llamado Febeon, un templo dedicado a los Dioscuros, donde los efebos hacían sacrificios en honor de Enialio. También cerca de este templo se hallaba un santuario de Poseidón Geáoco. Selon la tradition, Ménélas et Hélène étaient enterrés là. Tous deux y avaient un autel, voire un hérôon (temple dédié à un héros), et y étaient vénérés. Le poète Alcman (VIIe siècle av. J.-C.) mentionne déjà le sanctuaire (Fgt. 14 Page), fréquemment appelé le « ». Les découvertes archéologiques (objets votifs) témoignent de même de l'existence du culte dès l'âge géométrique. Il persista jusqu'au IVe siècle av. J.-C. La Dixième Néméenne de Pindare (v. 106) mentionne également la présence à Thérapné d'un culte aux Dioscures, Castor et Pollux, jumeaux de Zeus. - Therapne (Ancient Greek: Θεράπνη) was a town in ancient Laconia, within the territory of Sparta. According to Greek mythology, its name comes from a daughter of Lelex. The place was distinguished for housing the Menelaion, a temple to Menelaus, where it was believed that the bodies of Helen of Troy and Menelaus were buried. Herodotus writes that there was a sanctuary of Helen at Therapne, and relates the tradition that a nurse went every day to that sanctuary to ask that it free a girl from her ugliness and that one day a woman appeared who caressed the hair of the girl and pronounced that she would be the most beautiful girl in Sparta, after which the same day the appearance of the girl changed from ugly to beautiful. The lyric poet Alcman in the 7th century BCE. mentions a temple in Therapne attesting to the antiquity of the place, Pindar cites the place as one of the places where the Dioscuri resided. There was a festival at the town, which was called Meneleaeia (Μενελάεια) in honour of Menelaus and Helen. In Therapne there was also a fountain called Meseida and another called Polideucea. Near Therapne, in a place called Phoebeon, there was a temple dedicated to the Dioscuri, where epheboi were sacrificed. Also near this temple was a sanctuary of Poseidon. Other prominent places in the vicinity of Therapne were a place called Alesia, where tradition said that the mill had been invented and a heroon in honor of Lacedaemon.
