- The Higher is an American pop rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada. They were originally known as "September Star". They have released three full-length albums, On Fire, It's Only Natural, and Histrionics, and EPs named "Pace Yourself" and "Star is Dead." The band was signed to Fiddler Records, Epitaph Records, and Sony Japan. The Higher toured with the bands Panic! at the Disco, Motion City Soundtrack, The Temper Trap, Less Than Jake, Ludo, Escape the Fate, Silverstein, Emery, Alexisonfire, There For Tomorrow, We The Kings, Rookie of the Year, The Matches, Sherwood, Meg and Dia, Quiet Drive, Take Cover, I Am Ghost, The Forecast, This Providence, Name Taken, Sing it Loud, Runner Runner, Rufio, Tokyo Rose, and others. Il gruppo è al momento sotto contratto con la Epitaph Records ed ha pubblicato due album studio chiamati e e due EP dai titoli e . I componenti attuali della band sono Seth Trotter, Doug McCarthy, Reggie Ragan e Jason Centeno. Il primo EP della band Star Is Dead, pubblicato da nel 2003, permise alla band un tour con band emo di prima grandezza come Silverstein, Park ed Emery. Il video di Insurance? dall'album On Fire è stato mandato in onda da canali come , è stato girato a Las Vegas e mostra la band suonare e giocare al casino. Il 10 ottobre 2007 il gruppo annunciò di avere un nuovo batterista, Doug McCarthy, ex tecnico dei Boys Like Girls. Nel febbraio 2008 la band perse uno dei suoi membri fondatori, Tom Oakes. La band dichiarò: I The Higher si dispiacciono di informare tutti che, a causa di problemi personali e artistici, Tom Oakes ha deciso di lasciare la band. Gli auguriamo la migliore fortuna nei suoi futuri progetti. Gli Higher continueranno e suoneranno a tutti i concerti programmati. Il posto di Tom Oakes è stato preso dall'ex tecnico delle chitarre e responsabile del merchandising del gruppo Andrew "The Kid" Evans, che sebbene non sia mai stato dichiarato componente ufficiale fa tuttora parte del gruppo.
