Gleichzeitig ist die gesamte Flugzeugzelle aus Verbundwerkstoffen hergestellt, womit eine erhebliche Gewichtsreduktion erreicht worden sein soll. Die Scorpion ist für sogenannte „low-threat-missions“ optimiert, bei denen der Einsatz einer teureren F-16 oder A-10 nicht nötig ist.
