- Ein Tabulatorstopp (auch kurz Tabstopp) ist auf Schreibmaschinen eine (zumeist mechanisch einstellbare) Position, an der der Papierträgerwagen beim Betätigen der Tabulatortaste zum Halten kommen kann. Auf Computern können analog in Textverarbeitungsprogrammen horizontale Positionen eingestellt werden; in Texteditoren können solche auch fest vorgegeben sein. In modernen Textverarbeitungsprogrammen ist dieses Konzept verallgemeinert, indem Tabulatorstopps ein Ausrichtungs-Attribut haben können, das bewirken kann, dass der Text sich an der Position linksbündig, rechtsbündig oder zentriert ausrichtet. Solche Tabulatorstopps können absatzspezifisch sein und jederzeit an eine andere Position verlagert oder entfernt werden. (de)

En bureautique, le même concept est utilisé avec des taquets de tabulation fixes, ou ajustable dans les logiciels de traitement de texte. Il existe dans la plupart des logiciels de traitement de texte 4 modes de taquets de tabulation : droit, gauche, décimal et centré. - A tab stop on a typewriter is a location where the carriage movement is halted by an adjustable end stop. Tab stops are set manually, and pressing the tab key causes the carriage to go to the next tab stop. Modern word processors generalize this concept by offering tab stops that have an alignment attribute and cause the text to be automatically aligned at left, at right or center of the tab stop itself.
