- سوالو ذا سن بالإنجليزية Swallow the Sun) وتعني "ابتلع الشمس"، هو فريق دوم ميتال من فنلندا. تأسس هذا الفريق في ربيع عام 2000 بواسطة عازف قيثارة الفريق يوها رايفيو Juha Raivio وسرعان ما انضم له عازف الطبل باسي باسانين Pasi Pasanen وبدأوا بكتابة بعض الأغاني، وانضم باقي أعضاء الفريق في عام 2001. أصدروا أول عرض تعريفي بالفريق في عام 2003 وكان باسم (Out of this Gloomy Light) مما دفع شركة فايربوكس (Firebox) الفنلندية للتعاقد معهم لإصدار ألبومين. وتم إصدار (The Morning Never Came) في نفس العام و(Ghosts of Loss) في عام 2005. حقق الفريق مبيعات جيدة وظهرت أغانيهم في المراكز العشرة الأولى في ترتيب الأغاني الفنلندية. وفي عام 2007 قامت شركة سباين فارم Spinefarm بالتعاقد مع الفريق. موسيقيا يعزف الفريق دوم ميتال ومن نوع ، في أول إصدار كان طريقة الغناء السائدة هي Growling، ولكن بعد ذلك قام المغني ميكو باستخدام صوته العادي Clean وأثبت قدرته على الغناء بكلا النوعين. والمواضيع السائدة في أغانيهم عن الحزن والموت والرعب والجنس في بعض الأحيان. ترجع تسمية الفريق لطبيعة الشتاء الطويل والمظلم في فنلندا، فكأنه ابتلع الضوء والشمس. Junto a tocan en el , y graban un par de temas, apareciendo uno de ellos Through Her Silvery Body en su primera demo Out of This Gloomy Light. Unos meses después firman contrato con Firebox Records y entran enestudio a finales de julio de 2003. Durante tres semanas graban el queserá su disco de debut . En febrero de 2005 editan su segundo disco, . Susencillo alcanza el cuarto puesto en el Top 20 de sencillosfinlandés en su primera semana y permanece en lista durante cincosemanas más. El disco alcanza el puesto n.º 8 entre Gwen Stefani ySystem of a Down. En el año 2006 firman con Spinefarm Records y realizan su primer tour europeo. En enero de 2007 publican su tercer disco Hope que incluye unaversión de Timo Rautiainen & Trio Niskalaukaus, cantada por Tomi Joutsen,el nuevo frontman de la banda finlandesa Amorphis. En el discotambién aparece como invitado Jonas Renkse de Katatonia. Debuta en el puesto n.º 3 de ventas. (es)

- Swallow the Sun is een Finse death-/doommetalband. De band werd in 2000 door gitarist Juha Raivio opgericht. Hij speelde met drummer Pasi Pasanen in de rockband , maar had materiaal geschreven dat niet geschikt werd bevonden voor die band. Om deze nummers toch te kunnen spelen, vormde hij samen met Pasi een death/doommetalband. In 2001 vroegen ze hun vriend Markus Jämsen of hij tweede gitarist wilde worden, waarna vocalist Mikko Kotamäki al snel volgde. Bassist Matti Honkonen en keyboardspeler Aleksi Munter, beide afkomstig uit , de andere band waarin Mikko zanger was, maakten de band compleet: Swallow the Sun was geboren. De band nam in 2003 het eerste album op. De single "Forgive Her..." van hun tweede album haalde in 2005 de Finse hitlijsten.
