- El supermotard o supermoto és una especialitat de motociclisme barreja entre el motocròs i l'asfalt. Les motocicletes tradicionalment són de motocròs però amb diverses modificacions, la més vistosa de les quals és el canvi de rodes, que passen a ser més petites (normalment de disset polzades davant i darrere front les 21 davant i 19 darrere que es fan servir al motocròs) i amb la banda de rodament dissenyada per a l'asfalt. Actualment, aquesta disciplina és popular especialment als EUA i Europa, sobretot a França i a Itàlia (on les pistes acostumen a ser en un 70% d'asfalt i el 30% restant, fora d'asfalt, amb sorra). Durant els darrers anys han aparegut al mercat models específics de motocicletes tipus supermotard aptes per a circular pel carrer. (ca)

Las motocicletas son frecuentemente creaciones hechas a partir de motos todoterreno con ruedas para asfalto como las de una motocicleta deportiva. Los conductores visten también una combinación de trajes de carrera y todoterreno, normalmente de cuero, cascos y botas de todoterreno. - Supermoto is a form of motorcycle racing held on race tracks that alternate between three kinds of track surfaces: the hard packed dirt of flat track, the irregular jumps and obstacles of motocross, and the paved tarmac of road racing. Supermoto was originally conceived by Gavin Trippe in 1979 as a segment of the TV show Wide World of Sports. It was something like an all-star game, in which the best riders from the three separate genres of motorcycle racing could temporarily leave their normal race class to come together and compete for the title of best all around racer. Today supermoto is a distinct genre of its own and riders in the other classes do not routinely cross over into supermoto. Races are commonly held on road racing or medium-sized go-kart tracks with an off-road section in the infield. Most supermoto race tracks have a tarmac size of 50-75% and the remaining percentage of the course is off-road. The dirt sections are usually constructed of packed clay, polyester -etha imathol and feature motocross style obstacles like bermed corners and jumps. This type of racing is also very portable in that an entire track can be constructed anywhere there is a large area of open asphalt and an availability of dirt. Supermoto races have also been successfully held in busy urban centers using closed city streets for the road course and a vacant lot for the dirt sections. The motorcycles used are frequently custom-created combinations of off-road motorcycles and road-racing wheels/tires, known as 'supermotard' bikes. Riders also wear a combination of road race and offroad equipment, normally road racing leathers and motocross helmets and boots. Unlike normal motorcycle racing, the emphasis lies on slower speeds—typically less than 100 mph or 160 km/h— on short, technical tracks. Het circuit bestaat deels (ca. 30%) uit zand, maar voornamelijk uit asfalt. Vanwege de mengeling van asfalt en zand in Frankrijk ook wel course mixte genoemd. Er wordt gereden met omgebouwde crossers en enduromotoren, met aangepaste vering, remmen en banden. In Nederland ook wel speedtrack genoemd, in België superbiker. - Supermoto (inne nazwy: Supermotard, SM) - rodzaj sportu motocyklowego łączący cechy wyścigów motocrossowych i drogowych, odbywających się na obu rodzajach nawierzchni na dostosowanych w tych celach torach motocyklowych i kartingowych. Jest to również nazwa klasy motocykli szosowych opartych na konstrukcji motocykli terenowych. W Polsce odbywają się wyścigi organizowane przez Polski Związek Motorowy. Zawody są bardzo widowiskowe. Motocykle wchodzą w zakręty pod bardzo dużym kątem, a podczas rywalizacji dochodzi do upadków. Motocykle supermoto są fabrycznie lub indywidualnie modyfikowanymi motocyklami typu Enduro lub Cross. Główna różnica polega na zastosowaniu "małych kół" o średnicy 17 cali lub 16,5 cali, z szerokimi oponami z drogowych motocykli sportowych, poprawie układu hamulcowego i zmiany ustawień zawieszeń. Траса для змагань на супермото має як асфальтовані частини, як для шосейно-кільцевих гонок, так і частини з ґрунтовим покриття схожими до трас для мотокросу. Мотоцикли для супермото створюються на основі мотокросових мотоциклів, проте з дорожніми шинами. Останнім часом спостерігається тенденція робити мотоцикли супермото на основі потужних супербайків. Зі здобуттям популярності виду змагань, та широкої цікавості до самого класу мотоциклів, почали з'являтись і серійні зразки даного класу мотоциклів. Основними світовими виробниками класу супермото є KTM, Yamaha, Husqvarna, Suzuki. Супермото як окремий вид був придуманий Гавіном Тріппе (англ. Gavin Trippe) в 1979 році як сегмент телевізійного шоу Wide World of Sports. Це було щось на зразок спільної гри, в якій кращі гонщики з трьох окремих категорій мотогонок, зможуть тимчасово відійти від свого звичного типу змагань, щоб зібратись разом і позмагатись за звання кращого серед гонщиків. На сьогоднішній день, супермото це окремий клас кільцевих мотоперегонів. Також даний клас набув широкого поширення і в дорожньому використанні, як особистий засіб пересування дорогами загального користування, що призвело до масового виробництва мотоциклів саме з метою особистого використання. Гонки, як правило проводяться на перемінні місцевості, де 50-75% займає асфальтне покриття, а решта є позашляховим. Частини асфальтного покриття відповідають шосейно кільцевим гонкам, де відмічається висока якісь дорожнього полотна, в свою чергу позашляхова частина траси складається, як правило, складається з глини і бруду, утворюючи перешкоди у вигляді насипів і крутих поворотів.
