- A specialized investment fund or SIF is a lightly regulated and tax-efficient regulatory regime in Luxembourg aimed for a broader range of eligible investors. This type of investment fund is governed by the Luxembourg law of 13 February 2007 replacing the law of 1991 defining the legal framework for institutional funds and enlarging the distribution scope to "well-informed investors". The SIF law significantly simplified the rules for setting up investment fund structures ranging from straightforward investment strategies investing in listed securities to hedge funds, real estate and private equity funds. On 12 July 2013, the SIF regime was amended by the law onalternative investment fund managers (AIFM law). Consequently, the SIF law hasbeen divided into two parts:
* General provisions applicable to all SIFs;
* Specific provisions applicable to SIFs which qualify as Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) and which require to be managed by an authorized Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM). Due to the broad definition of AIFs, most SIFs are qualifiedas SIF AIFs. (en)
- Un fondo di investimento specializzato, o SIF (Specialised Investment Fund), è un tipo di prodotto finanziario generalmente definito di "investimento alternativo" (AIF), a stretto uso di operatori professionali. Di norma tale tipologia di investitori si rende partecipe dell'ingresso in tali prodotti con un minimo di 125.000 euro o è stata dichiarata idonea da un ente finanziario che ne ha valutato le capacità. Questo tipo di fondo di investimento è disciplinato dalla legge Lussemburghese del 13 febbraio 2007, la quale sostituisce la legge del 1991 che definisce il quadro giuridico per i fondi istituzionali e amplia l'ambito di distribuzione a "investitori ben informati". La legge SIF ha semplificato significativamente le regole per la creazione di strutture fondi che hanno una strategia di investimento diretta in titoli quotati o non quotati, a fondi hedge, immobiliare e private equity o criptovalute.
