- Sint-Elisabeth Hospital was the main hospital on Curaçao, located in the Otrobanda district of Willemstad. A new hospital, Hospital Nobo Otrobanda, to be called the Curaçao Medical Center was built as its replacement. Part of the existing hospital will be demolished. The contract for construction was led and managed by Stichting Ontwikkeling Nederlandse Antillen (Foundation for the Development of the Netherlands Antilles). The costs of running the hospital will be higher because it will have more staff (about 1260) and have to meet management costs and depreciation which it did not do before. The Sint-Elisabeth Hospital closed in November 2019, and was replaced by the Curaçao Medical Center. (en)
- Het Sint-Elisabeth Hospitaal (SEHOS) is een voormalig ziekenhuis in Willemstad op Curaçao, gelegen in het stadsdeel Otrobanda. Het eerste verpleeghuis St. Elisabeth Gasthuis werd op 3 december 1855 opgericht door monseigneur Ferdinand Kieckens met hulp van de Franciscanessen van Breda. In de beginperiode werd o.a. zorg verleend aan leprapatiënten en personen met een geestelijke beperking. Het gasthuis ontwikkelde zich tot ziekenhuis en medisch- en verplegingsopleidingsinstituut. Met 740 bedden was SEHOS het grootste ziekenhuis van de Nederlandse Antillen en een van de grootste werkgevers van Curaçao. In 2019 opende vlak naast het Sint-Elisabeth Hospitaal, dat hiervoor deels gesloopt werd, een nieuw ziekenhuis, het Curaçao Medical Center. Voor het SEHOS-complex, beslaande 18.500 vierkante meter, wordt naar een herbestemming gezocht. (nl)
